Don't mess with the hat!
There are two sides to Moonlight’s personality: her business side and her casual side. When things get down to business, Moonlight is very focused and task oriented. She can use a great deal of persuasion and diplomacy to get her point across, haggling to drive a hard bargain, but not to the point of being underhanded.
Once business is settled, and a handshake (or whatever the local custom is) has sealed the deal, she’s far more relaxed. Irreverent to a fault, she’s likely to poke a bit of harmless fun at almost everyone if she has the least bit of provocation. Her sense of humor makes it hard for her to descend into the extremes of negative emotions, something she developed to ease all the crew members she’s seen depart over the many centuries.
Although she has trained herself a little bit to fight, Moonlight has no love for violence, and will always try diplomacy first if things get rough. Her outlier ability is limited enough that if a large enough group attacked, there’s no way she could calm them all, and sometimes calming the enemy makes them even more dangerous. Also, she’s not too proud to beg for her life; there’s nothing of the warrior in her.

Moonlight has the ability to emit a continuous wave of calm via electrical pulses. It affects the nearest 7 individuals, regardless of species, including organic and non-organic beings. She can’t control who gets affected by this, nor can she shut it off by will alone. This ability works to gradually calm people until they are in an emotionally ‘neutral’ stage, at which point it ceases to have any effect. When someone leaves the area of affect they do not immediately resume feeling how they did previously, though new situations and stimuli affect their moods as normal. Moonlight herself is not affected by this ability.
(Note, this doesn't dull a person's mind or other senses; it just calms their emotions.)
Long story short, Moonlight had a normal life on Caminus until she hopped aboard a trader's star ship, where she found her true calling as a trader and animal tamer. Spending many centuries aboard the Comet's Tail, she was with the ever changing, mostly organic crew until they were attacked by a group of space pirates. They all crawled into escape pods which were ejected in multiple directions to improve the chances of survival. She remained floating in space until someone was kind enough to pick her up.

Moonlight got a glittering whip that glows gold with a carved crystal handle.

An average sized femme (23ft), Moonlight is primarily colored in black and white. The middle of her torso is black, as well as her legs. Her arms are white, with a V-shaped white patch on her torso as well. For those who have a point of reference, it looks similar to a organic style that pops up now and then across cultures: a vest with slacks and a white shirt. Whether or not someone notices this, it's hard to miss the fedora-style hat perched atop her head at a jaunty angle. Along with the black and white, she is trimmed with pale purples and blues, giving a shimmering, moonlit effect. In contrast, her optics are a brilliant green colour. On her back, four long rotor blades drop down, fanned out slightly, revealing her alt-mode as some type of helicopter.
Seriously, leave the hat alone.
