Location Cybertron - Tempo
Participants Hound, Cosmos, Skystalker, Astrotrain, Quicksight, Lieutenant, Blast Off, Sunstreaker, Trailbreaker, Slugfest
Scene GM Tez
Summary Wave One, in fact. Unicron is finally on Cybertron, and the worms are coming.

It's a funny kind of balance that they are trying to strike, here: Unicron has to get close enough to Tempo that the full power of (or, well: close enough to the full power of) the titan's weapon will be unleashed on Unicron's core when it is fired. It's all built around a single shot. If they miss, or Unicron's too far away, it's not going to work. And with Tempo chained to Cybertron, allowing the titan to draw on Vector Sigma's power, that means that they have no option but to let Unicron close on Cybertron.

First: a comet, bright in the distance. Then: a moon, the missing returned. Now: larger than a moon, threatening to take over an entire quadrant of the sky at his current rate of advancement, Unicron sends ahead legions of drones. These drones tore the Lost Light apart when Unicron first formed, all but devastating the ship. Now they threaten to do the same to Cybertron's defenses.

The Lost Light crew is not stationed guarding New Iacon. New Iacon -- and all its population -- are in this, expendable. They are stationed on and around Tempo, to buy time for the titan to transform into his final configuration. They have seen him as city, and they have seen him as ship (which, really, is just city with a few extra panels), and he's probably got a titan form, too -- but there's another.

Hound's in command on this particular battlefield. There are many around the city, where Unicron's drones impact and spread to attempt to encircle the city. Goal: kill them. No big deal, right?

The first wave is seething toward the front line as a roiling mass of coils and tendrils, all tentacles and slither and vast, gaping maws of horror mouths that would make Tailgate proud. There's only so much preparation they could have made, in the time they had, and now that the moment is here, Hound has to look over the line of slithering, undulating movement rioting toward them and has to think: they could have had eons to prepare for this, and it wouldn't be enough.

None of that line of thought shows on Hound's face. He's standing in the midst of their group, audial panels twitching forward, optics bright and focused on the waves around them, as he raises his voice over the clamor of their preparations. "Here's your first and most important rule!" He calls, tearing his optics away from the advancing horde to look over the defenders. "Don't get caught out in the middle of them! We're here to defend, not to fight our way to the other side of Cybertron! Don't go out there alone, don't get surrounded. We're going to need every hand we have, before this is over. Do you understand me?" He meets optics, here and there, whenever he can, before nodding. "Remember! We're not doing this for just ourselves. We're not doing this for any badges we have, or for any alliances. We're not even doing this just for Cybertron. This is for the entire universe."

<FS3> Hound rolls Command: Good Success. (2 8 7 3 2 2 2 1 3 2 6)

<COMBAT> Tez has applied a -2 modifier to Worm1-30.

Unified crew or not Astrotrain still isn't all that hot on having to take orders from an Autobot, but Hound manages to hit most of the right points, so... Hey, if it lets him actually blow up or smash something instead of having to wait and bail everyone's tailpipes out, fine. He'll deal with it like he deals with every other unhappy detail of his laboring existance, because he has a job to do. And if there is one thing Astrotrain is known for is slogging his way through a job no matter how terrible or boring it is. "Universe oughta pay off my bar tab for this then." Though not without getting his jabs in where he can, smirking a bit in Hound's direction.

As the first of the drones make impact he hefts up his rifle, squinting one optic while peering down the scope with the other. The scope helps make up for his mediocare optical clarity... which unfortunately means he's got a clear view of twisting coils and maws. "Great, he's not just attacking, Unicron is trying to hentai Cybertron to death." He takes aim at one of the worm-tentacles winding generally in his direction. "I'm not drunk enough to make sense of this," he can be heard muttering under his breath as he pulls the trigger of his ionic displacer.

<COMBAT> Astrotrain will attack Worm10 this turn.

Cosmos has been expecting the worst of this, constantly imagining the sight that may loom before them as Unicron approached. This is so much worse than his avid imagination could have come up with. With horror barely contained, the UFO stands with the others as a neverending wave of worms approaches. Hands shake as Cosmos plays with his artifact- twisting and turning the object between his large fingers- but soon curls his hand around it as the laser blasters in his wrist prime themselves. Hound gets a nod. He's ready, terrified as his entire frame is consumed with dread, but ready.

The worms come, and Cosmos fires into the approaching tide alongside his fellow Lost Lighters. <COMBAT> Cosmos will attack Worm5 this turn.

The tiny robo stego shuffles towards a worm that's getting far too close. Revving his chainsaw plates in a more than likely futile attempt to intimidate the creatures, he charges, attempting to at least saw up some of the tentacles emanating from the Eldricht Abomination currently attempting to overwhelm the party. <COMBAT> Slugfest will attack Worm2 this turn.

Trailbreaker breaks into a grin, giving Hound a fistpump of support. Which is all he can do aside from gawk at the oncoming horrors descending upon Cybertron. He's equipped with a stun rifle, more here for support than anything else-the others are a lot better at tearing things up, and have more of a stomach for it. As usual, the outlier has a specialty in mind.

"Anyone need it, give me a shout and I'll toss up a forcefield! I'll be over fast as I can! And I can get anyone off the field who needs it!" He takes a deep intake, raises his stun rifle and takes a few nervous shots at one of the worms with his stun rifle.

Blast Off has seen a lot of things out in space over many millions of years. He's never quite seen anything like this. The Combaticon frowns beneath his faceplate, jaw set, nodding as Hound speaks. The entire universe is certainly something near and dear to the shuttle's spark. "Understood, Commander. It's a big universe- and I'd like it to stay that way." Astrotrain's comment earns a raised optic ridge. "Let's just focus on getting this job done. This aft is not allowed to take our space away. We'll show him shuttles mean business." With that, and a nod over to Cosmos, he raises his own ionci blaster towards an oncoming worm as well.

The moment that radars began pinging and a pinpoint of reflection appeared in the sky, Skystalker found a quiet space until it was time to take on those first waves. It wasn't rest. Prayer, maybe, in a sense. Absolutely meditation. Silence. And then he left it, for all of this. He could not watch the approach.

When Skystalker finds himself amidst the others, it is with weapons filling his subspace and a sword drawn in his hand-- a slender, straight blade of one piece of shining silver metal. The anxious shift of it in his palm catches the light as he listens to Hound. His staff is at his back, a shimmer of gold in profile.

As Hound finishes, he has no witty remarks; Skystalker watches as the worms make their approach, blade sliding into a ready edge before he moves to meet one. <COMBAT> Skystalker will attack Worm6 this turn. <COMBAT> Trailbreaker will attack Worm20 this turn.

Sunstreaker is a frontliner and no matter what's been done to his frame, he's here. On the front lines. Making things a little more beautiful. He snorts, stamping a foot in anxious anticipation. Talons scratch at his collar before hoisting his blaster and bracing it to his shoulder.

"That sure was a lot of words to use just to say 'shoot 'em up' and 'don't be stupid', Hound." Sunstreaker glances at the others. "But it looks like all of you could use the advice," he sniffs before spraying bullets at a swath of worms.

<COMBAT> Blast Off has changed stance to cautious. <COMBAT> Blast Off will attack Worm2 this turn.

<COMBAT> Sunstreaker will fullauto Worm14, Worm17, Worm28, Worm12, Worm23 this turn. "I'll talk a lot more if it means all of us come back from this fight," Hound says to Sunstreaker. Then, with a growl, he transforms into his beast mode, and dashes low and quick toward the battlefield and the charging worms, seeking to sink his jaws into the first one he finds. <COMBAT> Hound will attack Worm7 this turn.

Pose and choose your action. <COMBAT> Worm10 has been **KO'd**! <COMBAT> Worm5 has been **KO'd**! Slugfest yelps as his blades miss but the worm nails him in the paw, and another one nails him in the opposite foreleg! A third worm's blow seems to...bounce off his head? Maybe it hit his little horn on his nose. Reeling from the assault, the squealing robo stego lashes out at the worm that did the most damage. <COMBAT> Slugfest will attack Worm3 this turn.

As the two forces meet, it quickly becomes clear that the Cybertronians have the edge in every respect but one: numbers. They have the arms, the armor, the tactics, and the leadership, but they are facing a tide, and it's a tide that's ever-reinforcing around and beyond them. To either side, within line of sight and near enough to hear the sounds of battle, other Lost Lighters clash with Unicron's drones. Cosmos and Astrotrain bring two down with their shots, while others around them trade damage for -- well, mostly just a lot of dings. Slugfest takes the worst of it, poorly equipped or trained for the fight.

Astrotrain steps to the side as the worm thrashes at him while dying from a majority of the electrons in it's body being forcefully radiated from their stable orbits. Or something like that. He doesn't really care about the atomic physics, just that it does it's job. "Who wants microwaved worm? Or maybe get a giant teguila glass..." Another worm lunges past, but his attention is drawn to snarling and thrashing off to the side as Slugfest gets ganged up on. Tch.

"Hey!" Ignoring his own attackers for the moment Astrotrain's large stride takes him over, and then try to smash one of his big boots down on top of a worm. "Ugly maws off the team mascot or whatever reason Soundwave keeps this critter around for!" Hey, Hound said not to let folks get seperated, he's just helping a fellow Con out. <COMBAT> Astrotrain has changed weapons to Unarmed. <COMBAT> Astrotrain will attack Worm2 this turn.

Skystalker's sword opens up a gash in the front of his target's armor, and as his swing comes back around he ducks out of the way of a snapping mouth. The two that come after him next ripple past his frame as he pivots and slides out of reach of them. Unfortunately he misses one-- it comes sailing up from behind and clips him on the left with sharp edges. He recenters his assault onto this one, sword coming up in a flash as pink swells below the armor of a bicep. <COMBAT> Skystalker will attack Worm21 this turn.

Blast Off knows too well how his armor is not exactly the best. His best bet, in fact, is dodging and keeping space (that thing he's fighting to protect) between him and his enemies as he blasts them sky high. Hopefully. And the shuttleformer manages to largely do just that- his shot strikes the worm even as he dodges several others. A lunge to the right, a twist to the left, he raises his weapon again just as a worm brushes against his chest- but he manages to scuttle back from that, too. His armor may be flimsy but it protects him there. He looks for the injured worm and aims- literally- to finish the job. However, Cosmos and Astrotrain's direct hits catch his notice, "Good job," he manages to say.

Cosmos thanks Primus that his shots hits, taking out one of the approaching enemies, but doesn't linger on that fact. Swiftly changing targets, Cosmos fires again into the flood of worms. He's not quite fast enough and one slips past. Backpedaling, Cosmos turns his fire onto the one trying to gnaw his chassis- glad for once that the roundess of his plating seems to be impeding its ability to get a grip. "Thanks Blast Off, seems we're doing you proud!" Well, I'm doing his proud until I get munched... AGAIN. <COMBAT> Cosmos will attack Worm8 this turn.

Sunstreaker's nasal plate crinkles as Hound transforms. He's gonna bite those things? With his mouth??? "Gross!" he shouts after Hound, carapace armor locking down. He won't be joining the dog of war, thanks.

His initial, wild shooting at the worm bunch doesn't do much except let them get closer without consequence. Sunstreaker tosses aside his blaster, fists curling and built-in blades popping out. Then he lunges to finish of a worm. <COMBAT> Sunstreaker has changed weapons to Energy Sword. <COMBAT> Sunstreaker will attack Worm14 this turn.

"This is gonna be one o'them battles of attrition," Trailbreaker mumbles as he fails to do much more than distract and annoy the worms. He's never been much of a heavy hitter. His forcefield manages to save him from taking too many bites himself at least, though boy does it bring to mind unpleasant memories of when these things first tore up the Lost Light. "Alright, alright! We can do this! All we gotta do...is push back. And nothin' wroing with using what you got!" he calls over to Sunstreaker.

He opens up his palms and generates a bigger forcefield outward, trying to fling worms back and hoping he'll get a few to smoosh themselves against the energy bubble. <FS3> Trailbreaker rolls Fortitude: Good Success. (5 3 6 7 3 7 3 2 6 4 2 5 1) <FS3> Trailbreaker rolls Forcefields: Good Success. (6 5 8 2 3 1 7 6 3 3 8)

In his wolf form, surrounded by worms, everything quickly becomes a blur. It takes so much of Hound's attention to orient himself based on Tempo and the rest of the crew, to make sure he isn't the first person to heed his advice. He manages to dodge the wriggling, toothy maws of more worms than he can count in the heat of the moment, only to close his own jaws around a final one, and start pulling it back toward the group, shaking his helm to worry at it as he does, trying to break through the armor that his initial bite failed to pierce. (It's not like he's tasting them, Sunstreaker. Besides, Sunny can't talk, he definitely started eating a person that one time). <COMBAT> Hound will attack Worm7 this turn. Options: called=Chest

<COMBAT> Slugfest will attack Worm2 this turn. (Tez)

Trailbreaker's forcefield doesn't just bounce the worms back: it shatters them, as they thrown against the seething mass of other worms. The rest continue to advance, rolling over the bodies of other worms that fall around them in their attempt to make it to Tempo. The line holds, even as the damage taken by the defenders begins to tally.

One of the worms after Slugfest goes down, Hound shakes the worm to pieces as he drags it back toward the others.

<COMBAT> Blast_Off spends a luck point to keep fighting!

<COMBAT> Skystalker spends a luck point to keep fighting!

Slugfest yays as Astrotrain takes care of one worm, and Hound takes care of another, so he's momentarily flummoxed when he realized the worm he was going to attack is no more. Besides, more attacks from worms have left him hurting a LOT. "Owwies," he complains, lashing out at one of the other worms that decided to attack him, "I need a healup!"

The ground beneath their feet shakes with the faintest of tremors as Tempo begins to move. The outskirts of the city draw in, leaving the defenders more exposed -- but also pulling the front line back, away from the advance of the line of drones. Tempo folds ... upwards, as though assembling into a spire, as the transformation sequence begins. As large as he is, it will likely take a little more time to complete. <COMBAT> Slugfest will attack Worm22 this turn. <COMBAT> Blast Off has changed stance to evade.

Cosmos swears to himself as he tries to keep the now wounded worm off of him, repeatedly firing at the thing as best he can in these close quarters. It quickly proves to not work so Cosmos does the next best thing, closes his hands around the thing to wrestle it off himself- his artifact shoved against its plating as he tries to both push it back and crush it between his hands. He has no idea what its supposed to do but that seems like something that might help.

Glancing to the side, Cosmos sees two of his fellow spacers go down but is too preoccupied to help other than try and step between Skystalker and the coming creatures, "Skystalker are you alright!?" <COMBAT> Cosmos has changed weapons to Unarmed. <COMBAT> Cosmos will attack Worm8 this turn.

Blast Off glances towards Cosmos. "Indeed. I find it *quite* uncouth when someone tries to destroy the universe, don't you? I mean, take over a planet here or there, try to kill a star, enslave a system, those are the tried and true methods... I mean, a bit trite and overdone, mind you, but ...really? Destroy the entire universe and deny everyone else even a scrap? End all life as we know it? How gauche." Amirite?

If the shuttle is trying to relieve nerves with dry humor, it seems he may have wanted to focus a little more on the worms instead. He does manage to finish off the worm he had aimed at. However, he dodges one, twists around to avoid another, but then the numbers overwhelm even his agile footwork. Ducking another worm, one smashes into him, and turning to try and deal with it- one slams right into the sniper's head. His helmet cracks and down he goes. But he's not totally out. Optics offline, flicker, then return online, violet light faint but there. With effort, he pushes himself up, trying to avoid the worms, beginning to eye Trailbreaker and his shields over there. The Combaticon begins making his way over, shooting at worms as he goes.

Trailbreaker's forcefield dissipates; it's taking more and more out of him to maintain them like that. In his dazed state he watches Tempo start to transform, regretful that he can't see it under better, less wormful circumstances. "Aw heck," he mutters to himself, readying his stun rifle again. He aims carefully and starts firing, glancing at Blast Off over his shoulder. "Hey! Ya need an escort?"

The stomp doesn't get quite the crunch Astrotrain was hoping for but if puts the bugger down from trying to chow on Slugfest good enough. Especially when the other worm keeps lashing at him and misses. "Com'n, is that the best you can do? So much for big scary world devourer!" It is, unsuprisingly, going a bit to Astrotrain's processors. He kicks one worm remains away as the ground moves back, turns and swings around and brings up his rifle, going on the offensive and opening full ionized fire on the other worm. "Time to kick ass and chew enerchips, and I didn't even bother bringing any. WAAHAHAHAHA!" <COMBAT> Trailbreaker will attack Worm20 this turn.

<COMBAT> Astrotrain has changed stance to banzai. <COMBAT> Astrotrain has changed weapons to Astrotrain's ionic displacer.

With the pieces of his current worm scattered, Hound still continues making his way back toward the group. He doesn't need to remain so far out to get the worms, after all. They're already moving closer, and although they're easy enough to dodge around, that doesn't mean they can't do damage if they manage to get their teeth into something. He swipes at one worm in particular as it tries to throw itself at him, and whips his helm around when he hears cruching against plating and Cosmos's shout. "Protect the wounded!" he calls out, quickening his pace to rejoin the group. <COMBAT> Hound will attack Worm23 this turn.

<COMBAT> Trailbreaker has changed stance to cautious. <COMBAT> Blast Off will attack Worm25 this turn. <COMBAT> Astrotrain will attack Worm29 this turn.

Sunstreaker continues to hack at worms, batting away any hungry maws that get too close. No, naughty worms. He growls in annoyance. "Maybe no one would be so wounded if everyone didn't talk so much! You all act like you've never fought a war for survival before," he barks. He meanders over, unaggressive despite his strikes against the worms in his way.

<COMBAT> Quicksight has left the combat. <COMBAT> Quicksight has joined the combat as a soldier on team 1.

There is another series of the same-- a deep cut along the armor of the worm's length, followed by swift movements to stay out of reach where he can. It's not quite enough. Skystalker feels another mouth take a chunk out, bigger than the first, and along the side of his thigh. It shears the armor off like a fruit peel.

Skystalker barks as the sensation of pain shoots up his frame and the weight of the hit knocks him into the ground, pointy side up. Cosmos' presence between him and the worms obscures his sight of the creatures, but gives him time to flare his wings and push himself back up, hobbled.

"For now!" The next incoming worm meets the sharp end of his sword, and it cuts into the chest. At his off hand, his armor unfolds and the blaster there primes itself with a short, shrill sound. <COMBAT> Skystalker has changed weapons to Blaster Pistol. <COMBAT> Skystalker will attack Worm27 this turn. <COMBAT> Skystalker has changed stance to Evade.

<COMBAT> Quicksight has changed armor to Class 1 Armor. <COMBAT> Quicksight has changed weapons to knife. <COMBAT> Quicksight will attack Worm27 this turn.

As Cosmos makes contact with the worm, the artifact in his hand flares to light, and the worm falls. The light falls over him like a cloak, limning him in brilliance and lending power to his next strike.

As Slugfest goes down, the worms that had targeted him turn their attention to the titan beyond, flowing past him and impacting the line of other defenders.

Jeez, Quicksight's only been away for a while, and they've started the fight without him! Stupid worms. Couldn't wait until he was back from his recon asignment, could they? As the battle nears, the little plane guns his engine, eager to get into the fight. That, however, is shortlived, promptly replaced by worry, and anger as he watches Skystalker go down. His engine flares brighter, and hre banks sharply diving for the worm that got him "Sky!" <COMBAT> Skystalker will attack Worm28 this turn.

Slugfest squeals as he's savagely attacked and left twitching on the ground, unable to do anything. The poor little stego couldn't even get a hit in, though he probably distracted enough of the worms so that those more capable could get in and do the damage and take worms out. Somebody doesn't have a wound because Slugfest has a hard head! So he lies there for now, hopefully not getting chewed on in the meantime.

Cosmos is dumbstruck when his artifact actually seems to work, looking down at the card in his grip and the glow it brings before snapping back to the battle at hand. What it actually did, he's not entirely sure of but he will take it! Well, whatever happened, lets hope it keeps doing it! Empowered, he raises own arms, weapons humming as his wrist blasters glow to life, and braces himself as the battle continues ever on. Bring it on he is starting to feel powerful!

How long that powerful feeling will last is up in the air. <COMBAT> Cosmos has changed weapons to Blaster Pistol. <COMBAT> Cosmos will attack Worm24 this turn.

Blast Off 's pride is taking a blow here. Wehn Trailbreaker catches sight of him and asks if he needs help, the shuttle pauses, gritting dentae... which might be slightly visible through a cracked faceplate. This is embarrassing, especially for a *mighty Combaticon warrior* and all. But living- and helping in this fight- takes precedence over even his pride. "...Yes," He admits, moving in close to the big truck, edging behind him, back to back. The wounded sniper brings his artifact out of subspace- a golden goblet AND some engex. The Combaticon pours himself a glass. It seems rather odd in the middle of a battle, but this is a healing artifact.

He frowns again... "Trailbreaker, I..." Ugh, this is SO NOT warrior-like it's embarrassing. "I'm heading over there." He points to Slugfest lying offlined nearby. "This uh... might help him." And that's what he does... trying to evade worms all along the way, hopefully with Teeb's help... he tries to make his way to the fallen Decepticon and attempt to give him a drink from the goblet. Maybe this will work???

A worm dives at Teebs and he barely manages to knock it away with the back of his big arm. "Don't worry, Blast Off, I...gotcha..." Trailbreaker is trying not to panic over the sheer amount of worms trying to get past him and the other defenders to get to Tempo. "I gotcha! I'll just throw one up near you." That takes even more concentration, especially in the midst of a battle, but the truck throws a shimmery forcefield up around Blast Off to protect him even if it leaves Trailbreaker himself mostly vulnerable. <FS3> Trailbreaker rolls Fortitude+2: Great Success. (7 6 7 3 7 4 8 8 5 4 4 4 4 6 2)

<COMBAT> Slugfest spends a luck point to keep fighting!

Blast Off also quickly downs a swallow from the goblet himself!

The worm gets a good radiation burning, but after all it's flailing about the Worm finally manages to chomp down on Astrotrain's leg, but can barely penetrate how thick the Triplechanger's armor is compacted in robot mode. Unfortunately Slugfest for all his effort isn't so lucky. The big mech snorts softly. "Guess it's time to put me wheels of steel to use and do the whole distraction and confusing thing." Blast Off is on his way over to help, so we'll just make sure they have room to work.

Though at first it might look a little odd that the big guy starts running in the direction opposite of Blast Off and Trailbreaker coming in.

"Buncha worms on the attack, their maws are all a flutter!" Then he lurches forward, dropping down into train mode in a flash "Around the bend came Astrotrain..." finsihing off with a blaring *TOOOOT TOOOT* of his whistle and the locomotive roars away, "COME GET ME MUTHA FUGGAHS!"

The one trying to gnaw on him might get crunched in the process, but it's mostly trying to lead the pack of them away from Blast Off's support effort. As Blast Off brings the artifact to Slugfest, a few drops of it rouse him -- while also causing the worst of Blast Off's bleeding to halt, and fill his lines with an unusual -- and unnatural -- strength. The good kind of unnatural. <COMBAT> Astrotrain has changed stance to Evade. <COMBAT> Blast Off will pass this turn. <COMBAT> Astrotrain has changed weapons to blunt. <COMBAT> Astrotrain will attack Worm25 this turn.

As he nears the group, Hound throws himself into a transformation, going with the motion of his leap and landing into a run on two feet instead of four. He still has his claws, but he doesn't use those-- rather, he reaches into his subspace to pull out his artifact. As soon as he has it, he lobs it in the direction of Slugfest and the worms beginning to slither past him. "Watch your optics!" he shouts in that direction.

<FS3> Hound rolls Presence+Presence: Good Success. (8 8 7 6 4 4) <COMBAT> Worm9 has left the combat. (Tez) <COMBAT> Worm11 has left the combat. (Tez) <COMBAT> Worm12 has left the combat. (Tez)

As the light breaks from Hound's artifact, it blasts the worms nearest Slugfest back -- and disintegrates them, leaving shadows and dust.

Even so, there's still a staggering number of worms left -- and they continue to churn toward Tempo.

Sunstreaker stares at the worm he's been slowly shedding to smithereens like he's in the office as everyone goes about doing whatever in their group as he keeps meandering over. He doesn't want to join the clump, he just wants to keep stabbing this worm thank you very much. "If everyone is done playing hero with the bots that can't take a hit, maybe we can get back to trying to keep these bugs from getting through. Bob can't eat all of them back at Tempo!" Bob, the last line of defense.

It seems someone used a Phoenix Down on Slugfest or something, because now the tiny stego is up and flailing! Worms perish around him, and while one grazes him, he continues to flail, who knows maybe he'll get lucky again.

Despite his leg, Skystalker's speed and agility still saves him from the majority of the oncoming swarm; his blaster serves only to create a knockback against the worm's armor before he turns into a one mech evasion machine. Skystalker hears his name called again, and a familiar whistle of wings, but he can only acknowledge it in his own head.

Sky darts away from the front line, shimmers in his peripherals causing him to sheath his blade and tug free the golden staff at his back. He gives it a short, furrowed look before he moves in to spin it into a swing for the nearest worm, favoring his left side for balance.

Blast Off glances over to Trailbreaker, "Thanks." Not even time for a proper two words, but he's barely functional as it is. At least until he gives the ambrosa to Slugfest and himself. The goblet again does its work and the Combaticon feels a most wonderful surge of strength. He gasps as it flows through him, violet light in his optics returning to normal, then surging with an unsual brightness as they go white. He takes a moment to look over at Astrotrain, rather impressed. "Show them what shuttles are made of, yes!" He is feeling weird as it is, why not go for a little overt (for him) excitement too.

Looking at Slugfest, Blast Off seems pleased. He rolls the dino back to his feet. "There you are." Now. Time to get back to PROPER action for such a mighty Combaticon! Combat! Yeah! (Ignoring that weird, warm, fuzzy feeling he has as Slugfest revives. It... feels good to heal people?) He ponders that a moment, edging close to Trailbreaker. As a worm suddenly dives towards them, he raises his blaster again and fires.

<COMBAT> Slugfest will attack Worm16 this turn. <COMBAT> Skystalker has changed weapons to Skystalker's Staff.

As Sunstreaker sets an example for the others, cleaving through his foe, the fight devolves into a bunch bite and dodge and slap and wiggle. Other than the splatter coating Sunstreaker's frame, it's a somewhat bloodless interlude.

While Cosmos lights the way through the battlefield, the hit of his gun strikes with unexpected power.

The tremble underfoot grows stronger, and then suddenly stills. The transformation sounds now come from above, rather than behind. <COMBAT> Skystalker will attack Worm28 this turn. <COMBAT> Skystalker has changed stance to Cautious. <COMBAT> Blast Off will attack Worm29 this turn.

Cosmos twists and dodges around the worms charging him, managing to stay a step ahead of them as they bite and snap for a chunk of his plating. He manages to strike a hit but they still forge onwards. Again he fires on the ones attacking him, still dancing and hopping to keep out of biting range. His steps falter, however, as something shakes the ground and struts alike- his helm snapping upwards to see what is happening. <COMBAT> Blast Off will pass this turn. <COMBAT> Cosmos will attack Worm22 this turn. <COMBAT> Blast Off will attack Worm23 this turn.

<COMBAT> Tez has applied a +2 modifier to quicksight.

"That's what we're doing, Sunstreaker," Hound says. There might be a hint of a low growl rumbling through his chest when he says it, but in the middle of a fight, that's normal. Probably. Either way, he doesn't spare much more than a glance and a grimace for Sunstreaker's eviscerated current worm target. He runs the few steps to grab his artifact, then pulls out a gun, and turns it on yet another worm and fires. <COMBAT> Hound has changed weapons to Plasma Rifle.

<COMBAT> Quicksight will attack Worm15 this turn.

"-Augh!" In panic, Trailbreaker throws a forcefield around himself that stops most of the oncoming worms, though one slips through and takes a chomp out of his hand. Dangerously close to the actual forcefield generators in his palms. He winces as it instead makes off with part of a finger, giving a weak nod to Blast Off. "Thanks for the help, pal...uh, Sunstreaker," he adds, "you okay?"

His forcefields shatter again as he starts sensing that drained feeling he gets when he's pulling too much from his reserves. Nevermind that, he has a titan to defend! So he throws out another forcefield around himself, trying to smash worms back if he can. Ignore how he's starting to shake a litlte.

<FS3> Trailbreaker rolls Fortitude-1: Good Success. (8 1 8 1 2 5 1 2 4 6 3 6) <COMBAT> Hound will attack Worm13 this turn.

As Trailbreaker pushes back, once again his forcefield grinds the worms against the bodies of the fallen worms around -- reducing them to broken gears.

<COMBAT> Blast Off will attack Worm29 this turn. (Tez)

Quicksight lets out a short, annoyed puff as his blades strike emptty air, the worm slithering away after Astrotrain. Atleast it's away from Sky, and Astrotrain is a capable soldier. He seems to actually trying to draw agro! With the heat momenterally off, Quicksight takes the opportunity to reorient himself. His blades snap back into his armour, and instead, he draws his sword. Or, atleast it's a sword in his hands. Before locating his next target, he makes sure to fire his friend a question "Sky, you alright?"

It would seem Astrotain still has an annoying hitchhiker. But his armor is still pretty thick in this mode too, hell it's thick even in shuttle mode just not as much so, since he's a MILITARY transport and all. Point is, the little fragger may hold on like some sick space leech but it's going to take more than that to get through those metal plates.

Meanwhile his tactic appears to work, as several of the other worms come after him instead of dogpiling on Slugfest's help. They snap and lunge, but no one save the one hanging onto the locomotive for dear life manage to get a grab on him. Diversion, success.

And that's when he really punches it. The thrusters jutting out his backside glow hot as the locomotive shuffles, front extending into a nosecone and sides flipping to unfold out into wings. The engine nozzles roar to life like the scream of death metal karokoe, and as he pulls up off the ground Astrotrain angles himself so the great plumes of fire spewing out behind him is, abiet haphazardly, directed towards his pursuers. <COMBAT> Astrotrain has changed stance to normal. <COMBAT> Astrotrain has changed weapons to Flamethrower.

Sunstreaker flicks his arms, flinging worm blood off his blades. The rest of him shimmers, rose-gold hues glowing on a grim, boring battlefield. "Bite me, Hound," he sniffs back, violet optics flashing in the dogbot's direction. His own growl rises and splutters out before it gets past his throat. The intense look shifts to Trailbreaker.

"I'm fine; you just focus on being a living shield. If you aren't lookin' like me, you're not doing front-lining right!" Sunstreaker strides over the body of the eviserated worm, going after the next closest one.

As Skystalker strikes with his staff, the same halo of light breaks from it to fall over him and the worm that he hits shatters. Elsewhere, Astrotrain destroys things just fine without any need for any halo: he slags the worms in front of him, flamethrower proving devastating in close quarters like this. Blast Off casual picks one of the other worms off, and the numbers begin to look -- almost balanced. Now the Cybertronians have arms, armor, training, tractics, size, and soon numbers too on their side.

Slugfest yays and is set on feet by Blast Off. "Thanks!" he says, figuring it was Boff who threw the Phoenix Down or whatever. Now to continue the fight! He tries to saw into a worm to finish it off, hopefully. If he can hit it. Worms are stupid-fast! <COMBAT> Slugfest will attack Worm16 this turn.

Blast Off hits his mark, then looks over at Trailbreaker smooshing worms with his forcefield. "No problem. That... is pretty impressive," he admits. He remembers when *he* had that power, that frame, and it really did seem like it could come in handy at times. He looks down at Slugfest, giving the mech a nod before the dino runs off to continue battling. "You are welcome." What *is* this feeling of pride he has there from helping... *healing*? He shakes his head a bit, then looks out towards the battle. Astrotrain is ...also rather impressive. he glances over to Skstalker and Cosmos, checking to make sure they're still standing, then back to the worms. No one seems knocked out, so he can keep shooting. Pew pew.

<COMBAT> Blast Off will attack Worm20 this turn.

"Thu-thanks," Trailbreaker gasps. There's a burnt ozone scent around him as his forcefield dissipates again in a shatter of sparkling light. This is ordinarily where he'd start using it more sparingly, or just stop entirely, but...worms. Everywhere. Unicron. He can't hold back! Still, rather than risk it he fires a spray of fire from his stun gun at oncoming worms.

You see this? THIS is why Astrotrain was a terror when he was actually allowed on the battlefield. Who needs flashy space artifacts? He's got three modes and he knows how to use them. Several worms go down in a fiery hell, but as the now shuttle-con banks over he sees one still squirming about even while one fire. Whereas the Triplechanger has his share of bite and scratch marks at this point, but it's hardly slowing him down now that he's in the zone.

What zone, you might ask?

As the purple and grey shuttle dives back towards the remaining worm amongst the flames opening fire with a blaster turret. And screaming at the top of his reverbrant voice. "DAAAAAANGER ZOOOOONE!!!"

<COMBAT> Astrotrain has changed weapons to Blaster Cannon. <COMBAT> Trailbreaker will attack Worm20 this turn. <COMBAT> Astrotrain will attack Worm30 this turn.

Badges or not, Hound has to cheer in encouragement when Astrotrain's drastic plan pays off. "There we go!" he calls out to the group, "Keep it up and we'll take them out, no problem." They can't all start roasting their opponents like Astrotrain, but removing so many drones can balance the field, and encourage them all to fight harder, and Hound is stepping forward to do his part, firing once more at the worm he's targeted.

<COMBAT> Hound will attack Worm13 this turn.

Seems that his thinking about getting past the worm's armoring was for nothing. Skystalker's optics flash with heat as the worm is blasted apart with his strike. Like the alternate Cosmos, cracked in half with a resounding hit.

"//Come on//!" Wings flare out, and boosters fire up to press Skystalker in fast on his next target.

<COMBAT> Skystalker has changed stance to Banzai. <COMBAT> Skystalker will attack Worm15 this turn.

Cosmos' attention snaps back down as Astrotrain puts on a varitable fireworks display of fire and flame, utterly decimating the worms that dared chase him! Missing his shot with the distraction, Cosmos can't bring himself to care as he lets out a loud WHOOP in the shuttle-train's direction, "YEAH ASTROTRAIN!" The celebration only lasts so long as a worm again pounces him, rapidly striking out with a sweeping fist.

Only it feels strange as Cosmos swings, an electric buzz zapping and popping with static through his fuel lines starting from the hand wrapped around his artifact and settling somewhere in his internals. It stays there, warming and sifting until it disperses through his entire frame with a snap. It doesn't occur to him what is wrong until he's already swung his massive arm- that's exactly what's wrong, the worms are suddenly far smaller than they had been mere seconds before.

<COMBAT> Cosmos has changed weapons to Unarmed. <COMBAT> Cosmos will attack Worm22 this turn. <COMBAT> Cosmos has changed stance to banzai.

Quicksight spares another glance as Skystalker charges the worms. Well, that answers the question, even if probably unintentionally. He should have probably asked that over comms anyways. The battlefield can be loud, so it's no surprise that some things are missed.

What's also loud is Astrotrain. Now that was hard to miss, even in all this mayhem and Quicksight spares him a glance too, after getting in a hit against his own target, to see the trail of charred worms in the tripplechanger's wake "<< Nice! >>"

Sunstreaker rolls his eyes at Astrotrain does his... Thing. "Tch, over-glorified flamethrower. Everyone always coos over triple-changers," he says as he slashes- die already!- at his worm foe. He is not easily impressed, just ask his brother.

As Cosmos smashes, one-two, taking two of the worms out of the fight, Skystalker manages to paste another with the bash of his staff, but it's latched on to his warm, and manages to get him to the ground, still gnawing in its death throes.

Hound's shots clear another of the worms from the area, and it's starting to look like they are about to clear the field.

This part of the field.

Right here.

Ignore that shadowy smudge high above heading toward them that suggests reinforcements.

With a chunk-thunk, Tempo completes his transformation, and settles back down in his new configuration: a giant fucking cannon. His base is nearly as wide across as the city of New Iacon, while his barrel rises past the highest towers of the city.

The Knights of Cybertron were absolutely known for their low-key aesthetic sensibility.

There is suddenly a VERY BIG ping on Astrotrain's nav-comm. "HOLY SLAG" the shuttle-con exclaims as he has to pull up sharply to avoid accidentally crashing into the now gigantic Cosmos. "Who gave Cosmos the space steroids?!" he comments, banking left to stay clear, which gives him a nice view of Tempo locking into position with his new mode. "Now -that- is a gun. Better not just be compensating though!"

Where was he before the giant green cake and giant gun?.. Oh yeah, worm. Astrotrain swoops down and transforms, sparks flying as his feet scrap on the metal surface to land, but he's paying more attention to bringing the cannon that had been the turret up. "Yippy ki-ih-yay MOTHERFU--" the cannon roaring to life again drowns out the rest.

Slugfest may not be getting any hits in, but this doesn't stop him from trying! With all those flailing tentacles on the beasts it's surprising none got caught in his chainsaw plates except maybe that one time. He tries nipping at that one worm that continues to evade him! "Hold still!" he snaps at it. <COMBAT> Slugfest will attack Worm16 this turn.

This small part of the field or not, Hound's not going to let the lack of magnitude of this victory bother him, or the troops he's working with. Best to keep their spirits up for the battles ahead. So when Tempo finally settles down into gun form, Hound has to wince and plaster his audials down against his helm at the echoing sound of it, but he's grinning anyway. "Time to mop up, team," he calls out to them, "And prepare for the next wave!"

<COMBAT> Hound will attack Worm18 this turn. <COMBAT> You set your action.

<FS3> Trailbreaker rolls Cheerleader: Great Success. (7 8 5 8 7 8 1 4 3)

Either the world has gotten far smaller or Cosmos has returned to the sizeable heft he was entering the Lost Light, but its something he decides not to focus or think too hard about in the midst of battle. "Only chumps do steroids, Astrotrain!" Cool kids do artifact... Wait... that doesn't make sense.

Seeing Skystalker, Cosmos twists around to try and crush the worm gnawing on the downed spacer as he harshly bats at another drawing in (it doesn't take nearly as much motion than it did before, throwing him slightly off balance which he quickly adjusts to). Tempo looms in the distance, and Cosmos spares only a nanosecond to gawk. That's a big gun.

<COMBAT> Cosmos will attack Worm18 this turn.

"Oh, man! Look at Tempo! Look at COSMOS! And-y'all are all fantastic! Right, Hound? Look, we're actually makin' a dent in them! We can do it this time!" Trailbreaker calls out as loud as he can to anyone who can hear his attempt at morale-boosting, even taking the time to flash up a peace sign and a grin.

But only momentarily, as there are still worms, and one does not mop up by cheerleading. Still a bit enervated and drained from his forcefield-flinging earlier, he shakes off that feeling and throws out one more forcefield, this time near the fallen Skystalker. It should protect him, though again it does little for Teebs himself.

<FS3> Trailbreaker rolls Fortitude-2: Good Success. (1 8 1 2 6 8 7 4 2 5 2) <COMBAT> Trailbreaker will pass this turn.

Blast Off blinks as suddenly there is a GIANT Cosmos in front of him. "...Cosmos? Since when...?" He doesn't know about the artifact. He can't quite keep his optics away. He looks a bit... impressed. Glancing towwards Hound, he pauses. "Next wave?" Sigh. He looks at his goblet, then at the battlefield... and back to Trailbreaker. Who looks exhausted. "You want a sip?" He offers the goblet, then stares as Tempo turns to a giant cannon. "There's a whole lot of size shifting going on today..." He comments drily. But Teeb's cheerful commentary has him feeling more upbeat, and he nods, lifting his weapon to take some more shots. Then, he spots Skystalker over there and grips at his goblet, thinking that perhaps he needs to head over there next.

Sunstreaker once more stands over the corpse of a worm, dripping its blood. Wiping the broad of his blades against his thighs to wipe them off. Hnf. Finials twitch as Tempo finishes forming and he twists around to look up... And up... And up... Live it up in there, Bobbert.

"Huh," Sunstreakers says. Would you look at that. Then he turns back with a shrug of his shoulders. "You look good like that, Hound," he adds before lunging at the closest worm.

<COMBAT> Sunstreaker will attack Worm17 this turn.

Skystalker's charge is met with the latch of teeth and maw, and energon splits from his hand and forearm as the worm tangles with him. The majority of it crashes apart, but its force topples him, the head still chewing his armor apart. His face looks up in shock at Cosmos when the other spacer angles into sight. He was not that big a moment ago.

With the head gone, the end of his arm is in tatters. His staff still clutched in the other and ready to defend him from the ground if need be. A shine of a forcefield nearby hardly registers, fluid pooling under his arm.

" << Lets see you do any better, Autobot! >>" Quicksight jumps in for Astrotrain as he himself swings at his worm again. Unfortunately, a bigger, hacking weapon means he needs to put more force into a swing, a factor he's still working on remembering. Else the sword just uselesly bounces off of any sort of armour, like now, and lets the critter just skitter away. Atleast it, once again, gives him a moment to look around.

Unfortunately, he doesn't have much time to admire the really big things popping up. Catching Skystalker's predicament out of the corner of his optic, the scout rushes over to him, barely noticing the sudden apperance of the forcefied. "Sky! Sky, are you alright!" He drops down into a crouch at his friend's side, grasping his arm in one hand, and his hand in the other, giving it a light tug upwards "Come on, ya gotta get up!" before that second wave comes/

As the shadow above darkens and grows, there's a moment where they have a chance to regather themselves and breathe. The last of the worms falls, and Trailbreaker's shield gives Quicksight the protection that he needs to get Skystalker back on his feet. They are bloodied, but still stand, and nothing has made it past them to interrupt Tempo who has now taken his third and -- presumably final -- form.

Hound is so startled by Sunstreaker that he misses his last shot on one of the worms-- not that it matters, because Astrotrain has it readily handled. "Uh. Thanks," he manages, before shaking himself out of it and turning to the others. Skystalker in particular gets a brief, worried look over, as Hound waves them all in. "We'll set up a watch for more. Be ready to lend reinforcements to the other sections if they need it," he tells them. "But for now, get your damage seen to, start shoring up the defences. Get some energon." He nods in Trailbreaker's direction in particular, before looking over the gathered group with a firm nod. "Good work, everyone. You did great. If we keep this up, we'll win this with no trouble. Now, if you need me, I'll be checking in with the other teams."

Superficial damage scuffs Skystalker's face as he turns onto his stomach to try and look for an out. He can't seem to get his leg underneath of himself until he hears his name and small hands that wrap around his good arm.

"Quicksight..." Pieces fall loose from his mangled hand, and the bitten side of his leg gives a hot, short spark of light. Sky leans on the minibot for that initial support, wings loose at his back and staff still clutched in the arm around Quick's shoulders. "I'm alive." He answers after a length as they reconvene with the others.

One worm tries to chomp onto his chest armor but Astrotrain doesn't care. He sees the other worm lunge for him one last time, only to shove the barrel of the blaster cannon right into it's ugly maw and clamp down on the trigger, letting the heavy weapon preforate it's innards while the Triplechanger is laughing like a mad-mech. "Ahahaha! How do you like THAT indigestion?!"

Not much for the worm to say as it slumps to ground in a pile of alien swiss cheese. Astrotrain hoists the cannon upwards and lets loose the rest of the magazine in a sort of celebratory fireworks type thing.

Slugfest yays as the last of the worms are felled, tail swishing happily. He then turns and hobbles over towards Soundwave. Maybe the tape commander has something for the tiny stego's owwies!

<FS3> Astrotrain rolls Powertripping: Good Success. (6 4 7 5 7 3)

"Haha, yeah. Energon. Goblet! Blast Off has a goblet. Cosmos is big and Sunny's all buggy and cool." Trailbreaker flops down on his rear, having apparently checked out for a bit. He'll be fine, probably. "At least I know I have something that works against 'em..." He looks down at the palms of his hands, hot to the touch.

Cosmos sighs as the last of the worms are dealt with, pushing himself off the ground to heavily stand at his full height. Its... a bit diorienting at first, limbs heavy as he looks down at all the mechs he now towers over who previously he stood shoulder to shoulder with. "You alright, Skystalker?" The spacer doesn't look too good. Should he carry him? He could easily carry him now but doesn't want to be that mech. He follows close behind the space fighter and minibot as they rejoin the others, "Skystalker I really think we should get you to a medic." Cosmos worries, hands hovering as he prepares to catch him- or anyone else- should he fall.

Maybe they should take Trailbreaker to a medic too...

Blast Off is still holding the goblet he offered Trailbreaker but the poor mech doesn't seem quite.... with it enough to drink, alas. "It's quite good, Trailbreaker, best drink you'll have all day, I assure you." It's still there if Teebs wants it, but for now he looks up at the battlefield. Looks like Cosmos is still... big. Wow. He blinks, then looks over to Skystalker and Quciksight, who has appeared to revive the spacer. "Are you alright over there? Need a pick me up?" He lifts the goblet.

Quicksight eyes those pices woridley, even as he moves in to offer Skystalker his shoulder. One hand releases the spacer's arm, and shifts to his back - or as far as he can actually reach. Cosmos' remark earns a nod "Yeah, you should get patched up." The concern in his optics as he looks up at his friend's face is clear. He doesn't even care that he's agreeing with an Autobot right now.

Astrotrain finally lowers the smoking cannon against his shoulder, even if he's still riding an emotional high. It felt good to do that again, the rush of combat, the enemies falling in their wake, even if the worms didn't scream in terror as much as he'd like. He glances at the others, and shrugs a bit. He's in too good of a mood for it to be spoiled at this point. "Well, I suppose, that's over and now I gotta haul all yer afts back into the city don't I?"

Reinforcements- sans the s- come at the end. Lieutenant comes around with some cubes since he doesn't need them. Tempo is in his third form, they made progress with the first wave of worms, and now-- "Wa- WHO let my Amica go full ham???" demands the avian, to no one in particular. He's not expecting THAT. Not to mention the fact that this completely throwing off his rhythmic friendship with a small Cosmos. Nevertheless, he goes over to Sunstreaker to offer him the first cube.

And any kindness from hope he gave Hound, vanishes. "Don't call me that," Sunstreaker snaps at Trailbreaker before slinking away from the group. He stalks right past everyone, ignoring them. He's off to search an imaginary perimeter for any worms missed, leaving a pink trail as he wades through worm remains.

Between Cosmos and Quicksight he doesn't think about arguing. Skystalker lifts his head to look up, up at Cosmos again, looking a twee dizzy. Blast Off provides a perfect distraction from a giant friend with the offer of his artifact. Skystalker has seen it work on things before-- even this time. "Yes, please. And I'll see a medic too." Just in case he needs a hand. Ha.

Blast Off gives Astrotrain a flat look. "Well, you don't have to haul *mine*." Pause. The look on his dented face softens. "You... did a fantastic job, however."

When a certain (other) green mech arrives, Blast Off stares. "Lieutenant?" Blink. "Amica?" He looks at Cosmos. ...And looks. Until Sky responds. He nods quickly, glancing back to Teebs before heading over to Sky. "Here," he offers another full glass of the goblet. Healing ambrosia in a golden chalice.

"Cmon, lets get you to the medic then." Gently Cosmos ushers both Sky and Trailbreaker up after Blast Off has offered his drinks- once again preparing himself to catch the thin mech- as Lieutenant arrives. He is about to worry over the avian, his close proximity with Unicron and physical state, but is thrown for a loop before that concern can rise, "Wait, when did we discuss being amicas?" Cosmos most certainly doesn't remember that! But at the same time, he doesn't outright contest it.

Once uppon a time, Quicksight and Blast Off... Well, that was long ago. Now, the scout gives the other mech a greatful look. Anything that helps his Amica is welcome.

Speaking of amicas...

The sound of an all too familiar voice has his plating bristling practicalluy on instinct, though the pannel under Skystalker's hand remains flattened, giving him a somewhat asymetrical look. Ugh, him, and ofcourse he gets here when the fighting is done! And amica? Who the frag would want him as an Amica! This time, he does eye Cosmos, though the look softens a little when the Autobot spacer negates the claim (atleast in Quick's audials).

But he'll leave all that for later. Right now, he's got more important things to worry about than some Prowl-loving, traitor not-friend. Skystalker is hurt, and he is most definitely not about to just abandon him right now. With a snort of disdain, Quciksight turns away from Lieutennant and Cosmos, and to Astrotrain. "I can go on my own, but Sky's hurt..." So, please?

"Yeah, no prob. I got my jollies killing things." Astrotrain trainsforms (that's not a typo) and drops a loading ramp for the folks wanting a ride. "I'll even give you a scenic pass of Tempo's new look while we're at it."
