|Summary||A slice of the siege fighting flips on its head when an unexpected enemy joins the fight.|
The harbingers may not have anyone in command any more, but they still manage to fight. The Shield portion of the plan remains underway as the Lost Light and Megatron's forces continue to battle. Even after the switch has gone into effect. Might as well take as many Zombies and Harbingers down as one can.
Battles are taking place in space, in the air, but primarily, there is a lot of fighting near the ground. Grounders trying to shoot out those from above and fliers aiming to take out those below. The scene is chaotic, there is armor littering the planet ground, explosions, but more magnificent is the Artifacts being used across the field.
Currently, there are a pair of harbingers and zombies that have been separated from the group. The harbinger pair hailing laser blasts from above with the zombies throwing themselves to latch onto those unfortunate fighters on the ground.
Cosmos has been fighting in a mixture of ground ad aerial combat, bombarding from the sky until he felt the need to swoop down and help save some poor sparks who found themselves cornered by enemy forces. Currently he's on the ground, firing laser blasts towards the oncoming harbingers as he covers for a fleeing medic.
Starstruck hasn't been part of a battle this big in, well. Millenia. He hasn't fought in a real warzone since the beginning of the war, and there's a part of him that reels away from the carnage and chaos going on around him now. But there's another part that welcomes it, and that part is currently in control as he fights, swinging his morning star with deadly force, smashing zombies and Harbingers alike. His saxophone case has been temporarily magnetized to his side so that it won't swing around as he fights.
When the small group is split from the main body of the enemy forces, Starstruck notices, and breaks off himself to charge toward them. Not the best thing to do alone, so-- <<"Bad guys, three o'clock!">> he sends over the comms of those nearby, weapon hefted in his hands. A grin is shot Cosmos' way when he barrels past, and aims to smash his morning star into one of the zombies.
There is so much going on right now that it is everything poor Fireflight can do to keep focused on one target or another. The Aerialbot's been doing his best, though, using his own Artifact, a Compass, to help keep him focused on the task at hand and where he might be of the most use. It points in the direction of whatever he is seeking at the time- and right now it's wherever he can do the most good. Receiving Starstrucks's message, he looks around and - Oh! "<< See 'em! >>" Spying the two Harbingers breaking off, the jet transforms into his aerial mode and goes off after them.
In the middle of an roaring battle is not one of Windrose's favorite places to be. But even not being primarily a combantant she felt an duty to contribute to such an important effort, even as a Neutral. As is she's flying in helicopter mode for it's mobility, while still capable of staying closer to the forces on the ground, forces that would be difficult for the jets to cover. <<"I know this is important but let's not be has--">> There guys go rushing in. <<"--Oh why do I bother">> she huffs, even as she's following the others.
Quicksight was not built to be a combatant, but even he finds some action on this field. So far, he's mostly remained in the air, calling out information to his allies bellow, and ocasionally swooping down to harass the Harbingers to let someone else go in for the blow. His own blades are not clean of energon either however.
He spots the strays even before Starstruck calls them out, and by the time all the others are closing in on them, so is he, rapidly diving down towards them.

Cosmos manages to graze the flier (Axle) but it's brushed off as she fires back at him. Buzz off, donut. However, Cosmos' attack ends up making a perfect distraction for Quicksight to swoop in on her.
Starstruck knocks the Zombies away but they shake off his attack and charge once more. There is no trace of Starstruck's impact upon either.
The other flier (Turbine) zips by with no acknowledgement for dear Fireflight. Instead she aims to shoot down Windrose.

Turbine just zips by Fireflight, who manages to be surprised enough (she zigs when he thought she was about to zag) and it causes the jet to start careening down- right towards poor Windrose. "<< WATCH OUT!!!>>" he cries, frantically trying not to crash into the rotary, veering aside at the very last second before slamming nosefirst into the ground. Ah well, at least he's built really sturdy. Ow.
The zombies may not feel his first blows, but that's alright, that's cool! Starstruck will just have to try again - when they're done coming at him. "Bitch you thought!" he crows, ducking out of the way of the first zombie. The second gets much closer (he is not the most agile on the battlefield, despite his dance moves) and Star has to raise his morning star to block the zombie's blow with its handle, feet digging into the planet's surface with the force of the strike. When he finally jerks the weapon away, he staggers back a few steps, then brings the morning star around for another powerful swing at the zombie in front of him.

And the zombies barely flinch. Windrose is doing her best to not have one of her outbursts at how hectic the battle had already gotten. Fireflight's yelling snaps her out of it just in time to spin away from the haphazard Aerialbot. And unfortunately right into Turbine's line of fire instead, which really isn't any better as the shots riddle her sides. She's already wobbling close to the ground so she transforms, skidding on her feet struts. "<< I'm just gonna go help the big guy. >>" Seems she's decided the zombies are relatively more her speed, deploying her survival axe and taking a swipe at one.

Cosmos visor blows wide in an expression that perfectly conveys, 'oh slag' as his shots do near nothing on the approaching harbinger. Relief fills his features as Quicksight comes in for the save, diving on the mech and distracting him from further advancing on the spacer. A quick glance back shows the medic needs is fine, so Cosmos takes back to the skies to go after the one that downed Fireflight.
A distraction is all Quicksight needs. He, of all people, knows how dangerous it can be to get distracted in battle. He zooms straight for Axle, almost appearing as if he intends to simply ram her, only to transform at the last moment, hand shooting out to lath onto her kibble. His feet brace against her plating as with the other hand, he pulls out - no, not his usual daggers, but a sword. Atleast, it's a sword in his hands. To a bigger mech, it would probably serve as a knife. It's also quite nicer than his usual choice of weaponry. This, he aims for Axel's aileron.

Both of the Zombies gets knocked away from Starstruck's strikes. One stumbles to get up just as Windrose approaches. Except it collapses just as she swings, missing it entirely. Give that one a minute while the other attempts another attack on Star.
Turbine spies Fireflight crashes and just clicks her tongue at him before firing at him once downed. Axle, however, isn't having such an easy time, forcing herself to land. Not every jet is blessed with FF's amazing fortitude for incoming crash landings.
As this goes on, a third and much larger jet passes over from above.

Cosmos , now back in the air, rushes Turbine as she fires on Fireflight. Leting loose a laser volley of his own, he veers in a half circle around the femme as she flies- shots hiccuping for a moment as a shadow passes over him. The frag was that?
Speaking of how dangerous it can be to get distracted on the battlefield, maybe Fireflight will stay on the ground for a little bit. The Aerialbot transforms, rubbing up at the sore nosecone sticking from his back. The Autobot is dinged and scuffed but his fortitude is strong. "Ow..." He glances up towards Windrose, calling out, "Sorry!!" and wincing. Frag, he hates when that happens. Suddenly, gunfire! "Aiigh!" It's raining bullets, or something.
Scrambling back, bits of armor pinging off of him, he tries to shield his face as he gazes up towards the sky. "Wha- hey!" He spots Turbine firing down at him and spins around, bringing his own weapon from subspace to fire back. He spies Cosmos comin gin to help, too. "Thanks!"
Windrose whiffs hard but the zombie still falls over. Well, not about to look a gift turbocharger in the air diffuser. Mentally she reminds herself they're technically already dead, the worst she's doing is putting them out of the misery of this unnatural state. "There is so many things wrong about this right now," she grumbles, even as she tries to stab the points of the axe into the one zombie before it can get up. Maybe she can at least keep it down until Starstruck is done? She doesn't know, she's starting to wonder how she talked herself into coming out of some abstract sense of duty.
Starstruck jerks out of the way of another strike, then smacks the butt of his morning star into the face of the zombie attacking him, and TIIIIMBER! Down he goes, leaving Star swinging the weapon almost lazily in his hand, a grin on his face. He looks up just in time to catch that newcomer, and the grin softens. Good. He was wondering.
Looking to the others, he notices a distinct lack of, uh...fighting spirit? Ability to fight? Well, Quicksight's kinda kicking ass, but... "Seems like you guys need a boost." Lip curling crookedly, Starstruck snaps his morning star to his side, opens the case magnetized to his frame and pulls out his saxophone. Putting his lips to the reed, he takes a quick vent and blows.
The upbeat, powerful tune that comes out is inspiring, energizing to his own people. To the Harbingers? It might hurt.

Quicksight beams as his opponent goes down - in the most litteral sense atleast. He's not getting off of this ride just yet. Instead, he simply reajusts his stance, and then brings his sword down again, this time aiming for a more inward joint.

Starstruck's tune carries through the battlefield, energizing his comrades. The strength is filled through them. Windrose will have to leave her axe embedded in the Zombie, least she free it during the rest of the battle.
Axle crashes into the ground, unable to transform. She's too badly injured to do much but lay there. Perhaps play dead until Quicksight moves on. What gives her away is her trembling under Starstruck's song.
Turbine shudders as well at the song but she manages to still able to dodge Fireflight's shots, but barely managing to miss Cosmos'. She fires back at both of them.
The larger jet drops lower, far from slowing down until it transforms. Lieutenant has arrived as back up! However, not for your back up.
The mech lands right on top on Windrose, keeping her under his foot. There's something- okay nothing really different about him. Lieutenant's violet optics burn, as he attempts to crush Windrose under him. Unicorn will be pleased to have another victim.

Cosmos barell rolls as Turbine fires back at him, readying himself to- wait is that- "LIEUTENANT!?" Cosmos watches in horror as his friend stomps Windrose, one of their allies. Shocked, Cosmos momentarily forgets he's being fired upon.

Yay, she did something! Windrose tugs a few times, and finds out maybe done a little too well as the axe is stuck in the zombie. She huffs and takes a step back to keep clear of Starstruck's swings.... Only to get that ominous feeling tingling up the back of her neck struts. She glances up, only to get a chance to gasp before the descending form lands right on top of her. Ooof!
Starstruck's putting away his saxophone when Lieutenant circles closer. He's about to head off and smash Turbine when - "Lieu, what the fuck are you doing!" No, that's not right, that's not right at all. Optics widen, pink visor brightening in shock as Lieutenant slams into Windrose. "What are you-- Lieu, that's one of ours! Stop it!"
Star doesn't lift his weapon again. He simply charges, straight toward Lieutenant, in an attempt to tackle the mech off of Windrose. Maybe if - maybe if he can pin him, he can talk sense into him -

Quicksight knows all too well that his blows are usually far from from lethal. If Axel thinks she's going to get off easy, she's wrong. He yanks out his sword, only to drive it in again, deeper, deeper, until -
The name 'Lieutenant', called out in shock as it is has his head snapping up, and then one of his arms. His optics narrow as he hisses "Traitor!" The small port in his arm whirls open. Camera rolling. He's getting all of this recorded.
Fireflight is still being riddled with bullets. The Aerialbot starts running towards the !Harbinger, trying to dodge while also firing back, Star's sudden musical accompaniment filling him with a surge of *I can do this*!!-ism. And then that shadow arrives. He gawps as ...isn't Lieutenant supposed to be on their side? "Why's he... Windrose!" The Aerialbot takes a step towards the big green 'bot, but looks like Starstruck's got this covered. He lifts his hands to fire at Turbine again, since she IS still actively shooting at him.

Starstruck slams into Lieutenant - and doesn't move him. Instead he ends up grappling the mech, his gritted teeth only slightly undermining the scared, concerned look on his face. "Lieu, Lieu, c'mon, this isn't you!" He digs his feet into the surface of the moon, trying harder to shove Lieutenant off of Windrose. "C'mon, this isn't - you're not his, Lieu, you're not his! Come back to us, please, come back to me."

Windrose isn't taking this lying down! ... Well yes she is, but you know what I mean. "Excuse me! These colors are lavander, not pink. NOT DAMSEL IN DISTRESS COLORS!" Well, she can't get out from under the press.... or maybe she can? Without her axe she has to resort to activating the drill from her geology tools and shove it somewhat awkwardly at the ground next to her, trying to make enough room to get out. And maybe upset Lieu's footing in the process. She's mainly focusing on trying to dig enough room to wiggle out.
Cosmos cries out as he is struck where his shoulders would be, alt mode spinning from the momentum before he evens himself out- energon already dripping off his frame. Other than hurting like SLAG its nothing he can't take and soon is shaking the hit off. He knows he should be going after Turbine but- Lieutenant- leaving her to Quicksight at the moment, he rushes down to hover over the grappling mechs, "Lieutenant what are you doing!?" No, no, n- this can't be happening! He can't be betraying us!
Unfortunately for Turbine, Quicksight is more perceptive than she thinks. Whth his thin armour, 'don't get hit' has been his primary means of survival, and the fact that he's here proves that he's gotten pretty good at it. The sound of an incoming enemy has him looking up, and then jumping to the side, extracting his sword from Axel in the process. He barely touches the ground before transforming, a burst from his engine carying him skyward again.
The camera keeps on rolling.
He's got a more imediate problem than Lieutenat right now, but he does manage to get off a comment of his own before wheeling up to get above Turbine "<< It's exactly like him! Third time! >>"
Fireflight glances over at Quicksight as Turbine fires on him, optics then flicking over to Lieutenant, Starstruck, and Windrose. So much going on. His thoughts drift to Pipes- is he out there attacking their friends too? Is there going to be anything left of the friends they knew? But no time to dwell... the Aerialbot manages to make a hit on Turbine and, jumping into the air, he transforms. Watch out, Fireflight is flying again. he takes aim with his firefog missiles and fires at her.

Turbine chases after Quicksight, trying to shoot that slippery scout out of the sky. Fireflight's firedog missiles throw her off track and she quickly loses sight of Quicksight.
His foot moves off of Windrose, only to shift positions and push back in this lock. "Come back to the Unmaker." Lieutenant replies to Starstruck before grabbing the mech to knee him in the tanks. "Everyone will at some point."

Starstruck hisses as Lieutenant's knee makes contact with his frame, headlights flickering and shoulder speakers giving a crackle of static. "No, Lieu. They won't." His own voice is threaded with static, as he tries to keep hold of Lieu with one hand, and reach for his saxophone with the other. The artifacts...that's what he said worked, isn't it? "You're going to come back to us. You got that? You're coming back to us!"
If he's able to reach his saxophone, Star will blow one low, sorrowful, aching note. Or try anyway. Playing one handed isn't easy!

Cosmos spots Starstruck going for his artifact and decides this is a time to help, dropping to the ground in robot mode, Cosmos pulls out his own- as a reassurance more than anything by this point, and shoulder check's Lieutenant's knees to try and give the decepticon some room to work his music.

Between Lieu's shift thanks to Starstruck and her impromptu digging Windrose manages to squirm free. Though not without some difficulting, and her lightweight frame is no longer in the best of shape. It's enough that she's not going to get back in the middle of that brawl. "Someone knock some sense back into him!" As she lacks one of the fancy weapons what can she do... Or maybe. Going on a wing and a prayer she pulls out a grappling line from her tools, and tosses it at one of Lieutenant like a makeshift whip in some vain hope of helping restrain him.

Slippery is right. Quicksight easily twirls out of the way of Turbine's shots. Fireflight's missles only give him an even bigger advantage. Never loose track of even the smallest opponets, for they might come back down on you. Quite litterally. Coming back around, above Turbine, Quicksight goes in for the same manuveur that worked so well with Axel. The same procedure. Drop, grab, stab.

He did something useful! Yaaay! Fireflight is happy when the firefog missiles seem to dampen the !Harbinger's murderous intent towards Quicksight. As the small Con dives in for Turbine the Aerialbot swoops back around. " << Lemme help you with that... >>" It worked once before.... He fires off more firefog missiles at Turbine, trying to confuse her again.

Turbine knows what happened to her partner-in-crime and won't let it happen to her as easily. Quicksight might grab onto her, but she immediately goes up ninety degrees to throw the scout off. Fireflight's gimmick doesn't work twice on her as she manages to evade it.
Lieutenant, meanwhile, isn't having such an easy time either. Cosmos manages to hit the avian which throws him off from slugging Starstruck, but he remains standing. Windrogse's whip hits but that too fails to bother him enough to move. He returns Starstruck's gesture with a glare, reeling back to punch him once again, which last momentarily. The soft melody has a harsh impact on the avian who's frame starts to crack with every passing sound wave. Burns of holes start appearing on his frame.
In an attempt to make is stop, Lieutenant tries to kick the sax away. Even if it means burning his foot.

Which Lieutenant completely misses and instead stumbles onto the ground. Stupid bard magic. Maybe friendship too.
The incoming missiles don't help Quicksight in the slightest, and not just because they miss Turbine, but because for a while, they definity look like they won't. The scout releases his catch willingly, dropping downa few feet before shifting back to plane mode and pulling up again in an attempt to regain his high ground. Fireflight gets an angry ping "<< Ya stupid, or where ya trying to kill me too?! >>"
Watery energon trickles from beneath Starstruck's visor as he continues playing. He does not miss those burns, or those cracks. Yet he keeps going, drawing back his other hand to play a more complex melody when Lieutenant's kick goes afoul and he falls. Star follows, dropping to one knee, playing like he's in a concert hall and not in the middle of a battlefield. The song may not have the same effect on his friends as before, but the melody, bittersweet and longing, should keep working on Lieutenant. He hopes.
That's okay, getting him to move isn't exactly what Windrose was trying for. That she manages anything at all is a step ahead considering how out of her league she is at this point. She has to pull hard as Lieutenant stumbles from his bad swing, heel struts digging into the surface as her damaged body is already straining. "We're doing this for your own good Lieutenant! You're not leaving us very many options though!" Com'n Starstruck, you gotta keep playing.

Fireflight flusters as a jet, wings nearly wobbling as he sheepishly apologizes back to Quicksight, "<< I-I'm sorry, I was trying to help!>>" Shoot. He hates when he's just klutzy and makes things MORE difficult for his team by crashing and ....wait, crashing. Crashing is something Fireflight does well, so.... If all else fails....
The jet suddenly veers around, trying to intercept the enemy flier. He radios back to Quicksight, "<< Ok, I'm gonna crash it, if I miss, then you've gotta stop her for both of us, Okay? >>" With a roar of his engines, he heads for an intercept course, seeking to just ram her head on.

Cosmos offlines his visor as he hugs Lieutenant's legs, refusing to let go even if he is doing nothing. He knows what's happening. He's seen it dozens of times when Lieutenant has played with his artifact, he doesn't want to see what its doing to him on such a larger scale. Lieutenant falls and Cosmos is forced to look, a sob wracking his form as he sees.
The cracking and disintigrating of Lieutenant's frame, of his best friend's body, feels like its being reflected on his own spark. Only now he can't tear his gaze away from his zombified friend as the avian's own crush inflicts this pain on him. Light begins to well up in the corner of his visor as well.
Come on Lieutenant! Cosmos desperately thinks, SNAP OUT OF IT BEFORE IT GETS WORSE!
"<< Wha--? >>" is all Quicksight makes out before Fireflight goes in for it. If he had a jaw in any mode, it would be hanging loose right now " Definitely stupid" he finally mutters to himself.

Turbine decides it's better to cut her losses. Without !Rodimus in charge, and !Minimus dead, she decides she'd rather live and takes off from the field. Unfortunately, Fireflight has other plans for her as she shrieks at the moron who crashes into her! She manages not to hit the ground, but she's not in the best shape to fly as high or far now. Engines sputtering, she lands to try and transform.
Lieutenant claws at his audials, struggling to remain defiant or turn on Unicron. His frame continues to fall apart. And for comparison, the Zombies from earlier are worse off, nearly broken parts of beings they once were. (Granted they were exposed to Star's initial song.) The burns continue to spread, leaving his frame half charred. "Please- Please," he strains through gritted teeth, "Do not stop until there is nothing of Him left in me." Even if it means killing him. Lieutenant doesn't want this anymore.
The song dips in complexity, in quality, though it continues. That's because Starstruck has joined Cosmos in holding Lieutenant, though he's more capable considering their relative sizes. While with one hand he continues playing, his other arm wraps around the avian, awkwardly pulls the crumbling and burned frame against his. The bleeding of his optics is faster now, staining his cheeks a murky pink from the energon streaming down his plating. <<"We're going to save you,">> he comms, in fits and starts so as not to distract himself too much from playing. <<"Just hold on. Hold on, Lieu. Just hold on.">>

Windrose is almost ready to pull her gaze from having to watch... but then the real Lieutenant manages to speak through. She pulls the whip back, letting it retract away, her expression somber. "We get it. You'd rather... than suffer and hurt your friends farher. One way or another, this will end for you." With little else to do, she walks over to join Starstruck and Cosmo in hugging him. She doesn't have any Artifact but she does have the effect from Starstruck's playing, right?
For once, Fireflight's crashing does some good. At least he thinks so. Turbine might not agree. He slams into her, sending them both down. The Aerialbot crashes, a little more gracefully and controlled than last time. Transforming, he immediately gets his gun in hand and points it at Turbine. "Don't move! You're... uh, you're under arrest!"
Cosmos tries not to break down as his friend starts to bed, beg for Starstruck to cure him but... but Cosmos knows what having no more Unicronian could mean no more Lieutenant, "We-" He has to take a second not to hiccup with another cry, "We have to get him out away from Unicron!" He helps Starstruck lift Lieutenant, desperately grasping for something to hold on to, both physically and mentally, "We just- we just have to get him away!" That'll.. that'll make it all better right!?
Well, that...actually worked. Quicksight was all ready to have to swoop in and harry Turbine to get her off of Fireflight, but the Autobot actually manages to down her, and then get up in time to point a gun at her. Well, looks like his help might not be needed here. Might. He's going to keep ready here, in case something does go south. In both parts of the fight. Leveling out, he falls into a tight, circling pattern above the others, watching, recording, ready to swoop down should any trouble arise "<< There ain't no saving him from him being a traitor at spark, Unicron or no Unicron. >>"
Quicksight, you're not helping.
Turbine looks at Fireflight, and the Axle just a few yards away from her. There's no hesitation. "Arrest me with her then!" She takes off towards her partner, finally able to check on Axle, despite the bleeding and broken wings. She'd rather they go together than apart.
A pair of Lieutenant's wings fall off from the disintegration. He's holding on as best he can, but Cosmos is right. He needs to get out. If he could embrace his friends, the avian would without care. But he's trying to curl up to protect himself from the sound waves. Repeatedly he apologizes under shaking vents, as the burns begin to subside as Star's playing grows softer. "...Tempo." he pleads. Take him back to Tempo. Unicorn's reach is scarce there.
"Oh." Fireflight blinks as he notices Axle there, too. "Uh..." he looks around, but seems everyone's busy over there. Yikes, he hopes Lieu is gonna be ok. Well, looks like he's got a job here then. "Right. Ok! Yeah, you're uhh... you're both under arrest! You uh, have the right to..." What did the Earthlings say? "...the right to sing Silent Night! Or was it Silent Hill?" Isn't that what they said? Maybe. "Or uhh... Just stand over there, weapons on the ground and away from you!" He'll just keep his gun on them until someone takes them off his hands. He radios in for backup since it looks like he'll need it.
<<"Quicksight, shut the FUCK UP.">> There goes the last of Starstruck's saxophone playing. It doesn't matter now, as he stashes the instrument and pulls Lieutenant gently away from Cosmos, away from Windrose, cradling the avian as he stumbles to his feet. His optical sensors aren't exactly working at full capacity; bleeding will do that to you. <<"I'm calling a space bridge. You guys do what you need to.">> They can come or not, he doesn't care. The siege is still ongoing, the battle still raging. He's got to get Lieutenant to Tempo, and that's his priority, right now.
"Well, don't just stand there, you heard the guy. Get him out of here!" Windrose takes a step back, and turns her head in Fireflight's direction. While resisting the urge to facepalm. "It's 'the right to be silent'!", she shouts to the Aerialbot. Probably picked it up from the Earth fan club meetings. Or reading those cheesy novels Mirage gets everyone into.
"<< I'm just saying it as it is >>" Quicksight answers, continuing to circle above. He's in a better position up here to do something if the prisoners make a run for it, or something else decides to come at them "<< I got it all on record here >>" well, not all of it, but the begining where Lieutenant stepped on Windrose, and the end where he begged to get Unicron out of him for sure.
(Wait a moment, that last part doesn't quite mesh with the traitor dialogue, does it?)
Cosmos only spares one, filthy look sent Quicksight's way before he runs after Starstruck, keeping hold of Lieutenant's elbow the entire time he tries to block the music from reaching his audials. Its ok. It's going to be ok! Dear Primus Cosmos doesn't want to lose anyone else! Please don't let this be happening! "I-I'll be back!" He calls over his shoulder, and he will be but only once he's sure the avian isn't about to dissolve into nothing.
