Summary We're breaking IN to a prison!

After the escape and firefight at the resistance safe house, the number of Minder patrols in Mu has increased. There have been no other apparent repercussions. The Minders themselves haven't gotten any smarter, though, so it's only a marginal setback; it just means being more careful when moving through the city.

The Cavern, the resistance refuge outside the city, remains safe for the time being; no patrols have been spotted nearby. It is there that Oversteer has plotted out the resistance's next action, now that the powerful and willing offworlders are in town: infiltrating the city prison and freeing Powerdyne, the resistance leader, as well as any other Velocitronians wrongfully imprisoned. Oversteer insists that the resistance will falter without Powerdyne's leadership.

The prison itself, Oversteer claims, is the worst-kept secret in Mu. It is nominally secret, but everyone knows where it is. So, it is no trouble to roll up to it after following a somewhat sinuous route around and through city blocks to avoid Minder patrols. The rescue team is already inside a perimeter cell block thanks to help from the locals; while their weapons were confiscated some time ago, their tools weren't, so they were able to make quick work of an outer wall.

Intelligence from resistance members who have been unwilling residents of the prison in the past, as well as those few already freed from this outer cell block, point to an adjacent inner block as the most likely location where Powerdyne is held. The door to it is locked, and heavy. A control panel is mounted next to it, glowing a steady red. So far, there is no sign of Minders or any other obstacles.

Grimlock sizes up the door, and the little blinky thing console, and then over his shoulder at the ragtag bunch of other 'bots that are also on this smash & grab. "This should be easy." He rumbles, and then tromps over to the door in question, idly running his fingertips over the thick door. "Reminds me of that time we hit that duel depot south of Iacon. Remember that, Swoop?" Had he a mouth in his robot mode, Grimlock might allow himself a nostalgic smile.

Grimlock finally comes to eye the console in particular- at which point he shrugs and idly takes out his energo sword ... which he uses to pry at the control console, rather than just hack the door in. "Might as well keep it quiet 'til we're on the way out." He says, and then attempts a simple, straightforward bypass of the door's locking mechanism-- less of a subtle lockpick than an electronig jigger-ing, but hey, sometimes simple works, right? Smashing things is plan B.

Quicksight is no stranger to sneaking in to enemy teritory. His wartime duty as a scout didn't usualy involve infiltrating entire buildings, but the concept is still pretty much the same: stay quiet, and keep an eye out for danger. The 'quiet' part might end up being a bit difficult with this lot, but Quicksight can at least fuffil the 'watch out' part while the others deal with the door. He's neither a lockpick nor strong enough to go busting down heavy doors, so he remains near the back, alert, and activley scaning for any sign of movement. The fact that he's working with a bunch of people he doesn't like doesn't really seem to bother him at the moment. They have injustice to correct, and if these guys are actually willing to do it (as surprising as that may be to him), he's willing to work with them. Personal issues are one thing, serious work is another.

Astrotrain is totally pumped. He's been pumped ever since founding out what these downtrodden mechs wanted them to do, after having to miss the first fight because they needed him to play escape transport. Which was fine. It was important! But now he's had time to rest, and that nice navigator did scrounge up a bit of energon for him, so he's all rarring to go. Sneaking in isn't really his thing, but just knowing this is going to likely, eventually, turn into a big prison brawl has him going. At least his colors are mostly dark, even if his size isn't really the most suitable. "Keep an optic on my back," he murmurs to Quicksight, being the only other Con present, "And I'll quash anything that tries getting on yours." Bro-Cons gotta stick together.

<FS3> Grimlock rolls Theft: Success. (5 2 2 2 6 8)

Swoop is ready. He's been ready since he (unnecessarily) blew that Minder drone into smithereens. He's situated himself near Grimlock, and gives a quiet, snorting cackle at the memory thrown his way. "Slag yeah. Good times, huh, G Man?" He lets himself bask in the nostalgia for a moment before he quiets, watching Grimlock's work on the door. He spares a brief thought to wonder if anyone finds it strange that Grim is taking the subtler path for once. Then he remembers he doesn't care. His guns are primed, wing tips twitching restlessly, as he waits for his leader to open the door. Bound to be plenty of excitement once they actually get inside.

Viviqueen is here in 'bot form, but unhappy with it; sure, a dragon wouldn't be subtle but she's much more defenseless when not a dragon. That may be why she stays towards the back, again, as the others deal with the door.

It's the least subtle subtle path that Tailgate knew-- having Grimlock at the fore of a break in might be poor judgment when it comes to stealth-- but if there's anyone on the other side that shouldn't be there, they won't have to deal with them for long. Being up front with their intention is only a bonus. Tailgate is spaced between a forest of bigger legs as they wait for the path to clear ahead of them; he has some first aid patches on his injured hand, the slingshot held loosely in it as he keeps an audial to their comms with the locals, just in case anything comes up.

Ultra Magnus isn't happy with any of this but he has kept his disapproval to a dull roar, the kind largely bespoke by the stiff set of his back and shoulders and the flatness of his mouth. He speaks when spoken to, offers input when it is requested, and follows orders. That in itself shows him on some level conflicted about this prison break, because if he believed it were an illegal order with perfect conviction, he would simply refuse to follow it.

This is what happens when you bring the paladin along on a prison break.

He stands near the front, taking point with his massive hammer in his hands as he waits with extreme tension in his stance for Grimlock to finish unlocking -- Grimlocking -- the door.

Grimlock's practiced prying causes the door to jerk open with a pop. There's no other consequence besides the echo of that pop through the cell blocks and the red glow of the control panel blinking. Just registering an innocent door jam, certainly.

After getting the door out of the way, the inner cell block reveals itself: taller than the outer block, and bigger with more cells, spread across two floors with an open central atrium. The cells are barred with a material one might expect to be stronger than typical iron. Dim light falls from grated skylights. It smells like old oil, and looks as grimy as it smells.

Oversteer emerges from the back of the team and looks around frantically. He points out cells with resistance members who need to be freed, and rushes over to one in particular. "Here! This is Powerdyne! Free him!"

In the cell, a single bot is chained down to a platform, arms stretched out. A shroud over his head blocks all his senses. He shows no signs of movemen.

With no practice at anything to do with this technology, when Viviqueen moves to one of the resistance member cells' that Oversteer points out, she stares at it for a long moment. She'll leave Powerdyne to others, but this one-- Well, ok. She reaches for the bars and just tries to shred them apart with her weight and with her wickedly sharp claws.

Grimlock grunts a bit in satisfaction as the door gives way, and then he immediately barges through, sword held at the ready ... only to take a step back as Oversteer points out Powerdyne. Grimlock gives a 'hm,' and then surveys the rest of the cell block, searching for guards, security cameras ... or, well, targets, really. "Hnn. We bring a medic?" Grimlock asks the rest of the group, idly. Hey, he's already done his part of the job-- surely someone else knows their way around a welder, right?

<FS3> Viviqueen rolls Body+body: Good Success. (7 7 2 6 5 1 5 2)

<FS3> Swoop rolls Body+body: Success. (3 3 6 8)

<FS3> Astrotrain rolls Body+body: Success. (5 8 5 2 5 1 6 3)

Swoop follows Oversteer's pointing and heads to one of the cells containing a resistance member who isn't Powerdyne - there are a bunch of others they need to free, too, right? So the main body of their force can concentrate on that, while he slips off to the side, wings extending and allowing him to propel himself up to the second floor of cells. He lands gently before one of those Oversteer had indicated. "We're getting you out," is all he says, optics burning a blazing yellow as he STRAINS and eventually shoves the bars aside enough that the chunky bot inside can escape. That Dinobot strength tho.

Quicksight's optics narrow slightly at the conditions, both of the place, and the prisoner. Honestly, he wasn't exactly expecting better, not from elitist scum that persecutes people for the way they were forged (that is his set oppinion of Velocitronian society now). He doesn't move to try unlocking the cells either, however, partially, again, because he's not suited for it, and partially because someone needs to be the lookout. As someone who's been in reconnoisance his entire life, he's obviously the best suited for that job. Plus, even the nod he'd given Astrotrain on his request qualifies as a promise. Cons stick together. He does, however, offer Oversteer an irate look and an annoyed hiss of "Keep it down" followed by a low mutter of "Ya gonna get us noticed."

<FS3> Tailgate rolls Body+Body: Good Success. (5 6 8 8)

Astrotrain cracks his knuckle servos against the opposite palm. "Guess it's time to start breaking things." The Triplechanger stomps over to one of the indicated cells, eyeing it over a moment. He then grabs onto the bars, but rather than try to rip the entire thing apart, he makes effort to just bend the bars far enough apart that the mech inside can get between them. He's trusting Quicksight to keep the watch for trouble while he does the heavy lifting, so to speak.

Tailgate lets Oversteer draw them to those cells that need opened, and for good measure he waves a couple of the crew here or there so they know to move forward and get them out. His eyes pause on the former Lawman Ultra MAgnus, not ignorant of the contrast as he moves to one of the cells and jam himself between the bars-- one foot up and his back against another bar-- to muscle them apart with his compact frame, a valiant push that buckles one bar far enough to the bot to get out. He seems surprised he was able to do it-- let's be honest. As he plinks back to the ground, Tailgate dusts his hands almost proudly.

"Okay, guys, stay together, everyone! Nobody run off, we're getting 'Dyne out next. No medics-- anyone have some first aid training?"

Ultra Magnus does not immediately move to start bending the bars and releasing the prisoners. He regards the interior conditions with a flat affect. It's certainly not the first time he's seen the inside of a prison -- he's a not infrequent visitor of them for a number of reasons -- but this is really sticking in his craw. He takes no initiative to let them out. He does pipe up with his encyclopaedic knowledge of everyone's personnel files: "I don't believe anyone on this team has any formal medical training whatsoever." Helping. He's helping.

You know who is not surprised at what she's able to do? Viviqueen. C'mon, she's a dragon. She throws the bars she tore from the cell carelessly away and bares her teeth to the resistance fighter inside the cell. She doesn't pick him out of the cell and eat him, though, before she turns back to Tailgate to wait for his next orders.

<FS3> Quicksight rolls Observation: Failure. (3 6 2 1 6 5 1 2 5 4)

<FS3> Grimlock rolls Tactics: Failure. (2 3 3 3 5 4)

The prisoners freed by the Lost Lighters gawk up at the size of them, but the sight of Oversteer among them grants them resolve. They make their way, slowly, some limping, toward the jimmied door.

The careful inspection of their surroundings by both Grimlock and Quicksight somehow do not reveal the location of the door on the other end of the cell block, opposite their entrance, nor the approach of the squad of Minders, who emerge from it as it swooshes open. The one who happens to enter first speaks. "Outsiders, on authority of Mu Control, you are under arrest. Surrender your weapons and come with us." Sounds familiar.

A smaller door, on the second floor and above where the Minders enter, opens, and a single mech enters, gloating. He looks more like the Velocitronian you see in advertisements: sleek, shiny green, lithe and agile. He leans on a railing and calls down. "You are predictable as usual, filthy resistance. Oh, and offworlders, thank you for escorting yourselves to this prison, it will be easier to get you to your cells when this is over." He lingers to watch the show.

Grimlock 's visor blinks for a moment as he registers- too late, that this is a too-perfect setup for an ambush! He sights in on the lead bad guy, and takes in the gathering. At which point, Grimlock levels his blazing red sword at the green bot, and gives a growl.

"Listen up, Speedy. While you were busy rotating your tires, -REAL- Cybertonians have spent the last few millenia figuring out the best ways to murder each other. And right now, you are talking to some of the outright murderiest Cybertron has to offer. So, before you start ranting about us trying to 'surrender,' why don't you think twice about it before one of us rips out your spine and uses it as a belt."

This said, Grimlock glances to Tailgate from the corner of his visor. See, he's being subtle! He didn't even start shooting right away! This is called Diplomacy.

<FS3> Viviqueen rolls Intimidate: Success. (1 2 8 5) <FS3> Viviqueen rolls Shiny: Good Success. (8 1 2 4 8 8 2 2 1 6) <FS3> Viviqueen rolls Triplechanger: Good Success. (5 3 1 2 8 6 5 5 5 4 3 2 3 7)

<FS3> Grimlock rolls Intimidation: Great Success. (7 5 4 8 3 1 6 7 7)

"FUCK YOU," ok, guys, who taught the Eukarian how to curse? "I AM A DRAGON. YOUR WALLS CANNOT HOLD ME," is Viviqueen's roared response, so simple compared to Grimlock's. And then there's the sound of gears, changing, and her whole form twists and turns as scales slide out and she starts to engulf the room of the atrium until her head is even on a level with the second-floor balcony. The light catches and reflects off the large, gold dragon as she transforms.

Quicksight lets out a low, annoyed groan. If this lot had at leat tried to be quiet, he might have not kept getting distracted by their noise, and actually heard the approach. Well, too late for that now. His attention shifts up to the fellow up top "Only filth I see is up there!" he sneers "Can't believe I'm agreeing with dinobrain, but I'm agreeing with dinobrain." Without further hesitation, the scout launches in to the air, his small size making it easy for him to manuveur, even indoors. Who first? The asshole, or his goons?

Astrotrain looks up from bending bars to rescue subjegated slow people when drones start piling in and some guy starts yapping. He squints at the braggart for a moment, then glances towards Quicksight. "If I didn't know better, I'd think the loudmouth was related to Starscream!" This is followed by a guffaw, even as he's reaching for his weapon. "But clearly he doesn't know just who he's dealing with." Then he finally notices the drones. "I hope ya brought an extra large dustpan, speed snob, because we're gonna SWEEP through yer little toys here!"

<FS3> Ultra_Magnus rolls Law: Good Success. (1 5 3 7 3 5 1 8 1 8 4 3 1)

<FS3> Astrotrain rolls Jerkitude: Good Success. (1 5 6 8 5 7 3 2)

This jail is full of flimsy locks and bars. Can he really hope to hold them? Tailgate looks far up to the shiny mech on the upper level. Must be some sort of prison warden? Grimlock at least doesn't attack first and threaten later-- it's progress.

"Heh. You heard the lady!" Tailgate's answer to the mech comes on the tail end of the unfolding of Viviqueen's giant frame. He docks his sling, leaving it tipped toward the floor until one of the Minders dares to get close enough.

The rumbling caused by transformations and posturings can be felt through the floor and walls of the cell block. Powerdyne's body twitches.

The warden's confidence melts away extremely quickly in the face of bestial shouts and threats to his well-being. He quickly retreats through the door he had just come in through. "Destroy them, Minders!" he shouts with withered authority.

"I admit to committing no crime upon your soil. We are entitled to extradition to a court under color of galactic law," Ultra Magnus recites totally helpfully and with no sign of handing over his hammer. His lips press into a thin line and he lifts his chin very slightly as he raises his hammer. He glances aside at Viviqueen. Well. Shit. Cearing his throat, he invites, cordially, the heart of the matter: "You may arrest me, if you can. Please provide a complete list of the charges you intend to lay before a court of record."

Swoop doesn't even bother with posturing or yelling threats; Grimlock has done that for him! Instead he does a neat backflip off the second level and transforms himself, wings spreading and cry echoing through what's left of the atrium as he circles around Viviqueen's larger alt mode. You just try and attack her you little shits.

<FS3> Quicksight rolls Observation: Great Success. (7 3 3 1 4 7 8 3 1 8)

Grimlock gives a derisive snort as the Warden skitters off. "Hnf. Coward." He notes-- but, by the look of it, the drones are too dumb to quit! And so, Grimlock spurs to action-- he ducks beneath the overhang to the second level, and then THRUSTS his sword straight upwards, stabbing his way through the floor-- and hopefully right through the Drone standing beneath him!

Oversteer fades back from the incipient battle. He still doesn't have a weapon on him. Nevertheless, he is impressed with Ultra Magnus's legal knowledge. "I had no idea we had such recourse. Not that it matters in our current state. Perhaps one day, when we can reason with the rest of the planet. If that ever happens..."

Well, that answers that question. Quicksight would go after the asshat, but he's in through the door before even the agile scout can get there. Fine, goons it is! From his arial vantagepoint, he can see what's going on bellow quite well, which means he can stay true to his word at least here. Astrotrain gets a transmition "<< You've got incoming >>"

"Lovely." Tailgate scoffs when he lifts his slingshot, watching the warden disappear and the Minders move in on them. "Destroy? Sorry to disappoint him." Not really. "Look alive, guys." As things begin to unfold, Tailgate sidesteps towards Powerdyne's cell while attempting to fire potshots. Astrotrain smirks a bit at the tip from the quick scout, even as he's lifting his rifle. That's right you little tin can, come closer so I can shoot you and then stomp you like said tin can.

The freed prisoners flee as the shooting starts. Oversteer rushes to help them out as best he can, but he keeps glancing back at one key cell that hasn't been breached yet. "Do not forget Powerdyne!"

Powerdyne himself senses that something is going on. Now he's pushing and straining against his chains, like a caged animal.

As the Minders fly around her, Viviqueen pays them such little attention. They are so small! And she is so big as she transforms. But then one hits her arm, and the dragon lets loose a loud roar of pain, energon leaking from her arm freely against bright gold. Her tail lashes, careless of foe or friendly nearby, in pain as she tries to turn to find the Minder who attacked her, but she simply isn't quick enough to spot him.

Grimlock smashes his way through the ceiling, and then reaches up to haul himself up through the freshly-cut, still-smoking hole! No sooner does Grimlock make his way through, he takes a searing bolt into his chest armor- it gives a painful-sounding sizzle, but does little to slow him down! "RARGH!" Grimlock snarls, and then transforms to his even more murderous saurian mode, at which point he turns the terrible heat of his flamethrower upon the unfortunate Minder he's picked as his target. His FIRST target. This is gonna be fun.

This current set of drones is no smarter than those in the welcome party at the safe house. While some of their shots score hits, others miss. One in particular has its head nearly chewed off by Swoop's machine gun fire.

From behind the second-story door, the muffled cries of the warden carry on. "Forward Minders! Enforce the law of the city! Make them pay!" Annoying, isn't it.

Swoop is still circling Viviqueen's head when he spots a Minder, possibly the nearest, possibly the most dangerous, who the frag knows, it's the first one he sees and that means it's in his sights as he lets loose a barrage of fire from his abdominal guns. He WHOOPS as best he can (it comes out more like a screech) when the bullets pierce the drone's neck, flying into an almost lazy loop de loop to escape a shot from the same bot. And then he sees Viviqueen's damage. Oh, no. Oh FUCK no. His sharp optics concentrate on the Minder responsible for hitting her, and that's the drone he aims for next.

Astrotrain doesn't get long enough to actually take aim with the scope and it shows when his shot goes a bit wide due to his middling vision at longer distances. Though of course he'll blame it on having to shift his body to the side a bit to avoid the pistols being fired at him, and keep it under his usual bravado. "You couldn't hit the broadside of Broadside!" Never one to pass up the chance to take a zing at his fellow bigass Triplechanger with less useful altmodes. Okay, he needs less distance. So he takes a big stride towards the approaching drones even as he takes another shot, abiet it's clear he's probably moving closer to melee range.

Tailgate swerves around fire at him, landing a shot on one of the Minders before he shoulders up against Powerdyne's cell bars and attempts the same thing he tried before with the other cell door. "Hold on, we're gettin' you out."

<FS3> Tailgate rolls Body+Body: Success. (8 4 6 1)

Ultra Magnus states: "As you haven't made the charges known to us, this is an unlawful arrest and we are lawfully resisting you." It's possible this skips a few steps -- a few shortcuts -- but what it does is it allows him to hoist his hammer and charge forward to slam down towards one of the drones like the wroth of a vengeful god.

Either the minder had a faulty weapon, or Quicksight's manuvering managed to put him at a really awkward angle for the shot. Either way, it simply glances off his thin plating, leaving little more than a smudge. Right around the badge too. Ugh. Quicksight, on the other hand, had no such bad luck, leaving a decent gahs in the drone's arm before pulling up in to the air again. Powerdyne's thrashing does not escape him, but again, he doesn't move in to help. He's built for speed, not breaking or bending bars. What he can do, however, is try to keep fire off someone who can. Except why did it have to be Tailgate "Ugh, can't belive I'm doing this" he mutters, right as he swoops down uppon the drone that seems to have chosen the other mini as it's target "Hey ugly! Over here! Betcha couldn't hit me if I was right infront of you!" come on, look here, not there!

<FS3> Quicksight rolls Taunt: Good Success. (4 8 4 1 1 1 6 7 6)

Distracted by Quicksight's taunts - moreso by their volume and direction than any semantic content - the minder that was targeting Tailgate pauses and turns around, as if to acquire a new, noisier and so somehow more urgent target.

<COMBAT> Tailgate passes.

<COMBAT> Viviqueen passes.

<COMBAT> Ultra Magnus attacks Minder C with Ultra Magnus's Giant Hammer but Minder C DODGES!

<COMBAT> Swoop attacks Minder C with Machine Gun but MISSES!

<COMBAT> Minder D passes.

<COMBAT> Astrotrain attacks Minder E with AP Rifle and MISSES!

<COMBAT> Minder C attacks Viviqueen with Blaster Pistol and MISSES!

<COMBAT> Minder B attacks Quicksight with Blaster Pistol - Critical wound to Head.

<COMBAT> Minder F attacks Grimlock with Blaster Pistol but MISSES!

<COMBAT> Minder A attacks Swoop with Blaster Pistol but MISSES!

<COMBAT> Grimlock attacks Minder A with Flamethrower - Critical wound to Abdomen.

<COMBAT> Quicksight has been **KO'd**!

Viviqueen finally finds a Minder. It isn't the one that attacked her, but she doesn't seem to care as she roars once again and swipes a paw through the air at the thing, all wicked, dark claws even as energon bleeds freely from her other arm.

Grimlock bathes that poor minder drone with flame! He ducks beneath the blast of another drone- and then Grimlock just storms on- sweeping his tail at the flaming drone almost as an afterthought as he storms on, searching for a fresh target! "Grrrrh!" He looks downward towards the other 'bots on the lower level. "Someone grab our target yet?" He snarls. Fun as this is, it'd be embarassing to lose the objective!

Stupid drone! Swoop aims his guns for the Minder attacking Viviqueen but a shot from the one he'd just been attacking (how rude? I didn't even kill you? what the frag?) has his fire hitting empty dirty as he rolls out of the way. Fine, okay, if that's how you fraggers wanna do this. His guns rotate into missiles. Someone will probably be glad that he's aiming for drones that aren't already mostly dead this time. If they don't caught up in the explosion themselves, anyway.

Quicksight's knife may have missed it's mark, but the fact that he got thr drone's attention is good enough. Thing is, it's not the only one he's got on him. His previous target seems to have decided to extract vengance on him for its arm, so while the scout is darting and weaving about his latest opponent, it takes another shot. A good one. Good enough to send the little plane crashing to ground with a loud screech of metal scraping concrete, the impact forcing him back in to root mode as his optics dim.

Right, this is definately not proving to good with the gun, the drones are just too small of targets. Astrotrain grunts in annoyance and slings the rifle over his shoulder, even as the thing is shooting at him. Though the shots just sort of 'plink plink' off his chestplate. "Is that the best you can do?" Though now he's up close with the drones, he notices one of them going after Quicksight. "Why you little... Stop making my buddy look bad!" Ignoring how ineffective the drones have been so far, he reachs over for the Con instead to give him a shake. "And you! No wimpin' out. These oppressed sods need us."

The mighty smol that is Tailgate makes short work of the bars to Powerdyne's cell. As he does so, Powerdyne somehow, incredibly, tears free of his chains, and topples to the floor. He scrambles to his feet and rips the shroud from his head, revealing a crested helm and intense red optics. He looks around in a daze, first at Tailgate, then at the chaos outside the cell. It doesn't take him long to put two and two together. He points to his back and looks down at his savior. "Inhibitor. Now, quickly." There is a clump of machinery stuck to his back.

While Quicksight's taunting did momentarily distract one Minder, another was already drawing a bead on the scout, and his shot takes the flier down. Neither of them celebrate, but simply continue their duty. On another side of the battle, a Minder who was already badly damaged gets barbecued by Grimlock. Somehow it stays upright.

Tailgate turns his head as he hears Quicksight shouting up above, and he sees the Minder turn its gun away from his rescue efforts and turn it on the scout. "Quicksight--!" It's almost a warning, of sorts, that comes half a klik too late. "No! Scrap--" That looked like a bad hit! AStrotrain's got him. Good.

When Tailgate turns back to his quarry, it is with a tip of large optics and a determined look. "Hey there, welcome to the party!" Inhibitor. Like Soundwave? He doesn't have time to consider the ramifications, examining Powerdyne's features before he moves around to try and disconnect the bundle of tech.

<COMBAT> Minder A has been **KO'd**!

Stupid little flying bug-- ! Viviqueen growls low in her chest, even as one of the blasts of a minder ping off the front of her, digging away some gold only to reveal more below. The large dragon twists, turns and attempts to swipe her tail this time towards the Minder.

Astrotrain may be a big bully, but he still looks out for his own. That and he likes Quicksight's attitude. Alas, he's not really good at this 'help' thing more than lugging people around, and he's still got annoying drones shooting at him. "You owe me a drink for this." Not that Quicksight can hear him. The best he can do for the moment is carry the smaller Con around. "As for you!" Astrotrain turns around, and now that he's more pissed off, really feels a need to crush things coming on. "Okay, ya insect." He tries to stomp on the drone that's still harassing him. "SAY HELLO TO MY BOOT!" Revenge, it's totally a Decepticon thing.

As the Dinobot's missile literally blows up in his face, Magnus comes away with scorched scoring all over his armor, not least of which is a metal shred of metallic shrapnel literally sticking out of the side of his helmet. It doesn't take a galactic class investigator to figure out that trajectory, either. "SWOOP, you complete NINCOMPOOP," Ultra Magnus bellows as he waves off the billows of smoke. Still standing, though. Still standing and mad as hell. Double handing the hammer by main strength, he winds up with it like he's about to hit the smoldering drone -- which is, even after all that, still on its legs -- with enough force to, well, send the runners all the way around the diamond and home.

Grimlock takes more fire- he's a big target, after all! Each individual hit isn't much ... but as they add up? Well. It's a good thing he's as tough as he is. Grimlock doesn't break stride as the salvos converge on him-- he slams one drone to the ground with his tail, and then transforms to his robot mode again, bearing down on one of the 'brave' (or really just mindless) drones that has blazed away at him- and again, Grimlock lays in with the wicked red arc of his Energo Sword!

<COMBAT> Quicksight spends a luck point to keep fighting!

It doesn't take as much strength for Tailgate to rip a detachable inhibitor off someone's back as it does to bend prison bars apart. So, the device pops off easily. There's an audible hum from Powerdyne's systems as they come fully online, and his optics gleam with renewed inner fire. The explosions outside the cell don't even bother this Velocitronian. "Thank you. I'll repay your kindness right away."

Powerdyne dashes from his cell and converts into a six-wheeled laser borer, the barrels on his arms mounted now on his roof. They glow red, and then bright beams of collimated light burst from them, aimed at a Minder.

Quicksight would love to get back to helping 'these opresed sods', but the shot, and the crash, got him pretty good, so Astrotrain's attempts to rouse him remain ineffective. It's only once the tripplechanger lifts him does the scout finally stir, squirming in the bigger Con's grip. The first sound that comes from him is a warning hiss, before he can process the situation properly "Hey, leggo of me! I ain't down yet!" but man does his head HURT!

Even as Swoop, ahem, swoops away from the explosion, he still circles back close enough to hear Magnus' roar and. Oh, frag, he can't stop laughing. "<< Nincompoop. NINCOMPOOP! >>" This is cackled over their comm line, or maybe it's the open comm line. Doesn't matter, it's really fragging funny and he can't stop laughing about it. He does, at least, switch back to his machine guns. Happy, Magnus? Except he's aiming at the same drone he'd just tried to blow up, which is somehow still standing. It won't be for long, if he has any say.

Tailgate's smile shows in his visor, bright and blue as he follows Powerdyne out of the cell, sling back in hand. Holy scrap, look at that guy! The small commander leaps back into the fray, of course, not to be outdone. "Watch for an exit or get rid of these like the last ones! We've got everyone, we're getting out!"

Powerdyne's free shot drills twin holes through the center of the Minder taking aim at Tailgate. The damage is severe, although the drone keeps coming. The laser bolts streak through and into the doorway the Minders had emerged from, eliciting a shriek from an unseen someone back there. Sounds like the warden. "No! Minders, destroy them! I command you! The resistance must be crushed!"

"THERE IS AN EXIT HERE," roars Viviqueen, her head lifted to the skylight above their heads. She even raises on her hindquarters, snaking her head up to close her jaws around the bars protecting it and ripping it free. Because, hell, why not.

<FS3> Viviqueen rolls Body+body: Good Success. (8 2 4 4 7 8 5 3)

Grimlock sinks his sword into a Minder Drone- only to snarl as a blast lances straight through Grimlock's back, and out his chest! Grrrh! "Swoop!" Grimlock bellows, "Get that one off of me!" He points at Minder F for a moment, and then sets about continuing to carve up and possibly dismember the drone he's currently entangled with-- just rip up one more, and then it'll be time to go. Grimlock glances up at the new skylight Viviqueen puts in, and grunts. "Astrotrain still alive? 'cause he's our ticket outta here!"

Swoop takes an updraft and rises higher over the atrium, as high as he can go, anyway, easily avoiding a burst of fire from the drone he'd just bombed. That thing STILL isn't dead? He rolls in the air, practically showing off at this point, before he's moving back in and firing at the same Minder. And he hits, but - ugh. Doesn't do much damage, if he's any judge, even as he pulls out of his descent. Then Grimlock's voice reaches him. Just like last time, he doesn't even think about it, guns already training on the Minder in question, his trajectory bringing him around in a wide arc as he flaps and glides into a better position.

Astrotrain kicks the drone right in the midsection. Ah, that felt good. It still manages to shoot back at him, the shot glancing off his helmet. "Oh good, you're not entirely dead yet." He sets Quicksight down. But doesn't get a chance to admire Powerdyne's wicked looking altmode before he's shot at again, and the other drone finally manages to put a few burn marks in his chest plate. Despite that, he starts laughing again. "More alive than I've felt in decacycles!" he retorts to grimlock. With a growl he grabs the frame of the cell and rips a chunk off of it, gripping the jagged piece of metal like a makeshift knife and trying to plunge it into the drone on brute strength alone. Repeatedly. He's on one of his little moments, don't mind him. "Try and CRUSH THIS."

Oversteer peers in from the doorway through which the last of the prisoners have escaped. He spots Powerdyne, and an expression of joy, tempered with something else, lights his face. "You've done it! Now we have hope! I will transport away as many as I can." He steps back and transforms into a long flatbed and motors away to take on passengers for the trip to the nearest safe house.

Powerdyne doesn't hear his second-of-command, or at least doesn't hint that he does. He simply fires at another minder before returning to root mode. He glares into the darkness beyond the far door and yells, "Upshift!" Before anyone could stop him, he rushes past the Minders and through the door. Wow, I'd hate to be that guy right now.

Quicksight stumbles slightly when he's finally set down, one hand moving to grab at his head. He doesn't stay that way long, however. If anything, the painis making him more pissed than he was before. Launching in to the saftey of the air, only to swoop down at one of the minders in Astrotrain's vicinity. Cons gotta look out for each other, yeah?

Some time ago, Grimlock took out the first Minder; there's its arm, fingers still wiggling a little bit. Since then, the combined efforts of the Lost Lighters and the freed Powerdyne have bashed and shot through most of the others. They lurch on.

Tailgate doesn't even attempt to stop Powerdyne, he does, however, make note of Viviqueen's 'exit', and Astrotrain's size. Between the two of them they should be able to get out of here, right? "We'll watch your retreat, Oversteer!" Presumably meet you in a safe place, too.

<COMBAT> Minder C has been **KO'd**!

<COMBAT> Minder F has been **KO'd**!

The weight of the giant hammer that Ultra Magnus wields means it is a slower weapon, and that means that there is time for the drones to react to his motion and get out of the way. But the Minder he has been hammering away at has taken a lot of damage, so when it fails to evade the blow, sparks rain in a scattering fall as the heavy weight screeches in an awful crunch down the drone's side. Taking stock afterwards, he snarls a little and turns in a pivot with the spin of his hammer to immediately bring it to bear on another target, joining Astrotrain's little shiv waltz.

Grimlock lunges for Minder B, but the sword goes wide! And then another blast sears into his chestplate-- but stubbornly, Grimlock stays on his feet! He catches Swoop's fire on the designated target, and lets out a "Ha! Good shot!" Ah, that's the stuff. Grimlock grunts, and then simply swings his left fist at his Minder drone, attempting to just bash the thing into submission! He's taken a beating, but the mission's accomplished- they did some smashing, and they did some grabbing, and now all they have to do is just get away.

The skylight now open to the world, Viviqueen turns back to the fight. She swipes a massive paw at the closest Minder to her, as she twists in the space of the atrium.

Astrotrain is so wrapped up in his moment that he doesn't immeadiately register that the drone has somehow managed to wobble out of the way and he's just jabbing the chunk of metal into the ground. The first thing he does notice is the way Powerdyne goes chasing off after the guy that locked him away. Something tells him that doors won't keep that dude back for wrong. "YEAH GO KICK HIS SCRAWNY SPEEDSTER ASS!" Then he turns back to... notice the drone moved... and both Magnus and the big dragon dame coming after it. "You." Astrotrain just tries to grab the drone with his large hands and hold it down. "SIT BOBO SIT!"

Swoop is frustrated at his pass when he misses the Minder Grimlock had commanded him to hit, even as - Grimlock praises him for it? Well, alright, he'll take it. " << I know, ri--AGHH >> " Okay that wasn't meant to go over the comms, but when he takes blaster fire to his leg, Swoop can't help it. Aloud, he screeches, tumbling to the side before finally righting himself and flapping hard to regain altitude, leg singed and smoking. The drone that had shot him, he can see, is scrap. There are other bots to fry, though, and he dives, regardless of his injury, to take out the latest unfortunate Minder he's laid optics on.

There are sounds of a scuffle from beyond the doorway where Powerdyne vanished a moment ago. Now he reappears, with Upshift in a hammer lock, twisting and writhing ineffectually. "Unhand me! I am in charge here! Those are the conditions! You should just comply!"

Powerdyne is purposefully ignoring him. Since it only takes one arm to execute a hammer lock, he raises his other arm and aims a head shot at one of the remaining Minders. "Mm."

Maybe he got lucky, or maybe his mood is adding to his ferocity, but Quicksight's knife not only hits its mark, but goes straight trough, lodging itself in something vital enough to down the drone. Of course, it was already pretty badly damaged, but that doesn't mean Quicksight can't be proud of himself for landing the finishing blow (while dinobreath Swoop missed entierly!). Pulling up in to the air, the scout scans the area for a new target. Not much of a choice... The one about to be clobered by two giants -- nah, he doesn't want to get caught in the middle of that. The guy attacking Tailgate? Ugh, no. The last time he did that, it didn't go well for him anyways. The guy attacking Swoop? Eugh. Better than any of the other choices though. Plus, isn't that the one he was fighting earlier "Hey Dinobreath! Saw that your aim sucks so I figured you might need a little help!"

Tailgate doesn't have time to make orders to people who aren't his subordinates; he looks up to where Powerdyne moves out with Upshift under duress, a laugh in his vocalizer as he takes another shot at a remaining drone. "Ready to get outta here, guys? I am--"

Grimlock neatly decks his chosen target, and then takes a step back, content in his work. He's tired, battered, and honestly smoking from a couple of nasty-looking wounds ... to the point that he doesn't even particularly object to Tailgate taking command for once. "Hn. Sure." He rumbles in response to Tailgate, and then neatly steps THROUGH the railing of the second level, dropping down to the first- where Grimlock begins to lumber towards the exit, covering the escape of the others as need be!

Astrotrain pretty much just tanks the drone's shots while the others beat on it, though he does get another good stomp or two in on the thing. "You worthless fucking little piece of recycling bin reject, just snap your circuits and DIE ALREADY!" Which it finally FINALLY does. Astrotrain does the whole pump fists in the air thing. "HAH! SUCK IT VELOCITRON SECURITY! CONSIDER YOUR JAIL OFFICIALLY BREAKED!" Someone probably needs to remind him he should transform so they can get out of here.

<FS3> Astrotrain rolls Powertripping: Good Success. (4 1 1 7 4 7)

The three remaining Minders meet their demises as the Cybertronians converge upon them - with a little help from a Velocitronian headshot. Two who were already seriously injured crumble first, and the last one makes a valiant effort of it, but is overwhelmed. The final noises from its destruction echo through the cell block and fade away. It's eerily quiet, now that the prisoners are freed and the Minders destroyed.

But then of course Uplift breaks the quiet. "Are you all happy now? The System will just escalate her response. You fought off six Minders this time - next it will be ten. Then sixteen. You have no hope, no chance! You cannot escape, and I can't escape either!" He struggles again to break free of Powerdyne's hold, but a racer like Uplift doesn't usually have the core strength of a miner.

Once the ex-warden is done screeching, Powerdyne speaks. "I don't know who you are or where you came from, but I do know I owe you my thanks." He pauses, and looks around, and up, and thinks. "Reinforcements will be here soon. This one exaggerates, but still, we are in no condition for another firefight. I assume you have met with my people ... do you know where the Cavern is? We can regroup there and ... I can learn who you are." His ruby optics flash as his jaw sets with confidence.

There's a lot of action on the ground, which Swoop adds to as he fires and fires and FIRES upon the remaining drones. One of which he frags up real good, yeah, go him. He doesn't exactly pay attention to the details of what those below him are doing, except for Grimlock, who is herding out those prisoners they'd released. Or some of them? Eh, he hasn't kept track. There is a voice, though, that draws him up short as he circles again, and his yellow optics train on the one Oversteer had designated 'Powerdyne'. Swoop gives no verbal answer to this proclamation. His response is to transform to root mode mid-flight, landing gracefully on Viviqueen's neck.

"That's our cue, Vivi!" He digs his talons into the scales of her hide, not painfully or deeply, but enough to keep him there. "Time to get everyone out of here!"

"FUCK YOU, I AM A DRAGON," roars Viviqueen in repetive response, her head swinging around so that her mouth and that loud roar is right in Uplift's face (and subsequently Powerdyne's, oops). But, as intimidating as she attempts to be, the golden dragon continues to bleed, panting at her physical efforts to bat at Minders. She rumbles as Swoop lands on her, nodding, and bunches herself down to the ground for the others.

"Not so talky-talky now are you?!" Astrotrain just cheers Powerdyne on as he deals with the warden. Though that and the comments about leaving do seem to calm him down a little. "Yeah, we do. Let's get outta here, yer mechs are waitin' for you." Despite still being a little hyped up, Astrotrain gets his head back in transporter gear and transforms to make the all too familiar quick exit.
