Summary Pipes, Gearstrip, and Rung have a chat in the Oil Baths.

Some entirely unnecessary fabric half-curtains hang across the entrance with a swirl of some strange foreign characters painted onto the fabric.

The air is warm and rich with a bouquet of scents. Near the entry, the sharp, bright scent of soaps and cleaners is strongest near the the racks of open showers; shower heads of adjustable heights allow bots from Minimus to Magnus to make use of the facility while benches and stools give space for the injured or wearied to slough off the mess from a fight. Beyond, a larger space is cordoned off into several sections.

There are a few small, deep baths, capable of holding one very large mech, or a couple of smaller mechs. Minerals and scents are racked on the wall nearby to be added to the smaller baths. By far the largest pool is a communal soaking pool, hot enough to sink deep past armoring into the struts while an icy plunge pool nearby is good for waking back up.

Sliding doors lead to the body shop next door where a clean frame can go for touch-ups.

The last couple of weeks have been a bit of a drag for Pipes: a lot of the usual helping out with random tasks, often involving lifting or pushing or squeezing. You know, stuff combat bots can do when not shooting at things. So, to break the monotony and ease his struts, Pipes has taken a trip to the baths, and has already plunged into the communal pool. He drifts limp within it, limbs dangling, back kibble poking out from the surface like a little blue iceberg. Mmm. Floaty.

When Gearstrip arrives in the oil baths today, she comes covered in a fine coating of white dust that makes her deep blue paint look faded and dull. She trudges with a little less than her usual verve. It looks like she was in some kind of whirlwind explosion of tiny pale particulates. Her feet send little puffs of dust with each step. How does she get into so many messes, anyways?

Rung has, as always, been having rather little time for himself. As a result he has not been able to visit the oil baths in quite some time. With the chance now presenting itself, the therapist has made his way down to the recreation deck. Entering the baths the first thing he notices, with a small bit of surprise, is his roommate floating in the large bath. He wasnt aware that pipes was going to be here today, what a pleasant surprise! Smile already forming, Rung quietly makes his way over before saying, "Hello, Pipes. I did not know you were going to be here, how are you doing today?" Then he spots Gearstrip. Oh.. oh dear. "Oh my, Gearstrip are you alright? What happened to you?"

The head of Pipes, which was just below the surface (no need to breathe, right?) but not too far to miss his roommate's greeting, pops up with a little splash. "Oh, hey Rung! Small ship, right? I'm good, you?" He peers at Gearstrip's current condition next. "Is that ... dust?"

Gearstrip considers her answer carefully. She ambles over to the showers on the side to hit herself in the face full blast with a spray of water. Spluttering a little bit, she says: "Gack." Then, a beat or so later, she says, "Yeah. It's from the netting in some of the vents on deck 3. All in a day's work. It's okay, I completely replaced all the fan blades. None of the ventilate systems on the science deck should jam anymore. I have literally no idea what was getting gunked up in there, but it's fixed now."

Rung glances at Pipes before looking back to Gearstrip. What exactly is in the ventilation system? "Do you need any assistance getting clean?" She is covered practically from head to toe, it seems to rung that would take awhile to get off by oneself. Rung can wait to use the baths when the poor femme is leaving dust trails in her wake.

"Knowing who works in the science department ... well, who knows what the gunk could be. At least that just looks like dust." Pipes rolls over onto his back and continues to float, his arms down and shooting little bursts of air downward and sideways to keep him stable. Bubbles rise and pop nearby, which could appear embarrassing.

"I'm pretty sure it's just dust. It wasn't Brainstorm's workshop," Gearstrip adds earnestly. "I'm just gonna rinse and then soak. If I find any more particulates in my gears I may have to actually go to medical, but ehh." She flaps her servos through the air and then shrugs under the stream of water again, scouring herself with the pound of liquid. "Anyways, don't mind me. How are you?"

Rung goes back to his original course of going to the bath when Gearstrip assures him she doesnt require help. Once at the edge, he steps into the bath and seats himself along the side. Blatently ignoring the questionable bubbles from where Pipes is floating, Rung carefully removes his glasses and sets them to the side. Wouldn't want them getting wet or lost in the oil. "I am doing well lately, I doubt I have had as exciting a time as the two of you likely have."

"Not bad," Pipes answers Gearstrip, not really worried about who she was asking. "As for excitement, not much for me lately. That grungy space station we stopped at a while back was about it, and it was a bust as far as shopping goes. Other than that, just work." He motors himself over to the side near Rung and hoists himself up to sit on the edge. Splashing oil narrowly misses Rung's glasses.

"Work is not the kind of exciting that we prefer," Gearstrip laughs a little as she admits. She turns around, angling so that the coursing heat blasts her legs, and then finally shuts it off. Dripping, she starts to trudge toward the oil pools. "Anyway, I'd thinking fixing the processors of everybody around here would get to be pretty wild sometimes."

Rung , always humble, gives Gearstrip a small smile while moving his glasses further away from the edge. They are never safe around this ship, are they? "Occasionally I suppose but mostly it is just listening to mechs say what is bothering them and helping however I can." Attention shifting to Pipes, "Were there no shops that held your attention?"

Pipes nods at Gearstrip's opinion of work. It has its own rewards, but excitement isn't typically one of them. "There weren't many, and the ones that were there were pretty ... dodgy-looking. No souvenirs in sight, anyway. Not that the place was worth remembering, really." He stands up and works some joints, hopping a little, sending miniscule oil droplets here and here.

Gearstrip is still wearing her goggles on her head when she slides into the pool. It doesn't appear to occur to her to remove them from her person. "I'm sure there'll be someplace interesting for you to get souvenirs at soon," she says cheerfully.

Watching Pipes stand, Rung shifts to the side to give the minibot room. "Gearstrip is correct, there will always be the next place to get souvenirs from!" And the glasses as moved away again. At this rate it would be safer just to wear them...

"Oh yeah, no shortage of good shopping in this trip, overall!" Pipes steps closer to the edge of the pool. "Here, check this out. I call this one the 'Rivet'." He hops out over the surface, staying straight and upright with his arms at his sides, and slips into the oil with a minimal splash. Well, that's the goal anyway, but he can't tell from beneath the surface how well he did.

Gearstrip laughs and applauds as she leans back into the wall of the pool. There's some oil splatter, of course, because even an effort at minimal splashing can still create a gloopy splash of some kind in the warm oil. As Pipes ducks beneath, she drops beneath the surface to peer through the thick liquid towards him in a bright glow of optics before she surfaces again, dripping. "I wonder if he's got lots of moves with names."

Rung lets out a chuckle and polite clap for Pipes display. The oil does indeed splash but not horribly. "I do not know, but it would not surprise me." He sounds very amused as he watches for Pipes to reappear from beneath the surface.

Pipes waves at Gearstrip while they're beneath the surface, and then emerges himself. "How'd I do? Not a lot of splash?" He swims the short distance back to his launch point and lifts himself out again, mulling over his next choice of dive.

"Not too bad. Just a little sploosh." Gearstrip demonstrates the size of the splash (small) by mime. "Is not making a splash better than making a really big splash?"

"Not much of a splash at all. Quite impressive, Pipes." Rung continues to smile up at his roommate. Pipes certainly knows how to entertain himself, that is for sure. He would prefer no splash, as he is not certain they are even allowed to be splashing in the baths.

Pipes smiles (invisibly, mouthplate and all) at the positive reviews as he retreats from the pool's edge. "Great, thanks! Yeah, that one's supposed to be a tiny splash. Not like this one. Meteor!" He runs and leaps over the pool, curled up into a sort-of ball, and lands aft-first with a loud kersploosh!

Gearstrip makes a high pitched squeaky noise as the giant cannonball splash roils the oil all over the baths, and laughs as she puts her face in her hands, knowing full well just which department is going to end up dealing with the aftermath of the horseplay. "Meteor!" she calls out through the spread of her fingers.

Eyes widening at the realization of what Pipes is about to do, all Rung can get out is, "No Pipes wait perhaps you sh-" before Kersploosh. And oil goes everywhere, drenching Rung as he is caught in the splash zone. Good thing the therapist did not put his glasses back on.

Pipes pops out of the oil, now rolling with waves, and laughs heartily. "Wooo! How's that for excitement, Gearstrip?" He gets a look at the drenched Rung and thinks twice about his choice of jump. A little. "Oh, hey, sorry about that, roommate!" He isn't, really.

"Better." Gearstrip gives Pipes a little smile, and then hauls herself up out of the pool. "I better go for a scrub, though. Good seeing you mechs!" she says, and then ambles off to start tackling the remains of her finish in earnest in the body shop, dripping oil as she trots over the mess of sploosh over the floor.

Rung , with one hand, wipes the oil from his optics. Well, he had come to soak in the oil. A small smile is given to his roommate. "It is alright, Pipes. It was an impressive meteor." Rung stands, carefully retrieving his glasses, "I think I will go give myself a wash down as well, I will see you back at our habsuite Pipes."
